Dual channel as triple channel?

Hi,
Can I use 3 three memorys from 2 dual channel kits as a triple channel kit? Cause I have 4 sticks of OCZ SLI Ready 14400 memory and was thinking of taking three of these to use in my Asus Rampage Extreme with an I7 950 processor.
Can this be done?

There is no difference between dual channel or triple channel memory itself. DDR3 ram is DDR3 ram. It is only the Mobo that implements either a dual or triple channel configuration so yes, you can do that.

yeh they are just packaged UDIMM's you can buy them single or in packs as long as they are similar. (same spec/voltage/etc).

I see lots of potential issues here:

SLI Ready Memory is DDR2

ASUS Rampage Extreme is socket 775, not Core i* 1366 or 1156

i7 950 won't run in Asus Rampage Extreme

Assuming you actually have DDR3 OCZ, it's not rated to run at 1.65v. Therefore, you will not likely be able to run it at its rated speed on a Core i* board because of the CPU/IMC voltage limitation of 1.65v.

It's possible but I was going by what was actually in the post. If that is true, the following still applies.

SLI Ready Memory is DDR2

Assuming you actually have DDR3 OCZ, it's not rated to run at 1.65v. Therefore, you will not likely be able to run it at its rated speed on a Core i* board because of the CPU/IMC voltage limitation of 1.65v.
