Dual Channel or not?

Hey everyone i had a question right now im running my system with two 512 mg PC 3200 sticks i have one more but if i put it in then it will take it out of dual channel would i be better of with 1.5 gb. single channel or 1 gb. in dual channel.

any advice would be great!!!!

You're right about the extra stick taking it out of dual-channel. There would be a speed hit but i don't know how much.

As to which is better it really depends on what you're doing. if it's just kicking around in windows than more is better. For game performance, dual channel w/ 1 gb may be OK, if it's a hog like BF2 you'd be better going to 2gb dual channel

Seriously, I notice no real world performance rise or fall whatsoever with my 2 x 512 PC3200 whether its in DC or SC.

Any more than two sticks of RAM with an AMD machine generally causes more latency with the Memory controller and makes it work harder which is where you might see a performance hit. Some people do and some people don't.

IMO, I wouldn't use more than two sticks
