Dual channel ram question, thx

I have an ECS N2u400-A board with AMD 2500xp, 1 pc32oo DDR 400 512MB cas 3 value ram(none ecc) and 1 Micron pc3200 cas 3 128MB ECC ram (the one came with Dell's computer 400sc).

Can I pare the 2 ram in the ECS board slot 2 and 3 to get dual channel? Will there be any type of problem?

The board will have to ignore the ECC capabilities of the ECC module but I'm betting it will work. And if you have RAM in all three slots, it will run in dual-channel mode if it runs at all, since it's the nForce2 chipset (yes, sounds counterintuitive, I know). So give it a try

ok I put them in and it is showing dual channel in memtest86. So far it has passed 3 times of standard test with no error. Will there be any problem when I install Winxp? Will all the applications run fine without problems?

I'd imagine it would be fine. If it refused to recognize the ECC module, period, then you'd have to bail it (obviously), but I have one or two computers at work roaming around with an ECC module in them and haven't heard any complaints.
