Dual Channel?

Does dual channel work if the motherboard supports it, and the memory is PC3200 (two sticks each in a seperate slot), but if the CPU is a Celeron running at 400Mhz FSB? That is, does dual channel require that the CPU is running at full 800Mhz like a P4C?

Nope.

It should work as long as they are in the appropriate slots regardless of memory or FSB speeds.

I game with 2100 and get supurb frames

You guys are saying that now, but what happens 6 or 7 years down the line? I'm building this system to LAST for MANY years...

An initial investment in quality upgradeable components will pay off for her down the road.

No it won't. You'll get 3 to 4 years, tops.

Like I said in the other thread.

Email, office apps, and web browsing aren't going to get so intensive in the next years that you will NEED a 3.0GHz P4C. and by the time you do NEE D a 3.0GHz P4C, they'll seem like a pentium 1 or a 486DX.

it will take a long time for email to get so sophisticated that you'll need 3200 RAM.

example: i've got a P3 450mhz box with 512 PC100 SD-RAM. It's about 4 years old, and it still works great for the things you mentioned. it will continue to work for these for years to come (unless it melts down or burns up).

web browsing is the most likely of the apps mentioned to grow. as ISP's get faster and sites get more heavily developed they will cause things to slow, but your RAM speed really wont ever be the bottleneck onthe net. if your tring to play games then i can see your point.
