*edit*
Bought two of these. one Blue and one Red. I will figure out the wiring later. This is too good a deal to pass up.

What I want to do is have one of each light on both the top and bottom of the case. This way I can have all blue, all red or both.

Link

I must be missing something here. Many other places like SVC want $20+ for a dual kit like this. I emailed case-mod and they told me "the light tubes are separate." <--I asked them that b/c the picture makes it look like they are joined.

This looks like a really hot deal. What do you think?

personally, I don't think there's a catch, maybe they're trying to clear inventory.

Case-Mods is a pretty good store, don't think they'd fvck us over.

Thanks for the advice. I ordered from them last week. Great price on the SLK800 ($24!) and some rounded cables. They shipped fast and answered my email quickly too.

OK, I'll bite.

yea, I stopped by their store a other day, nothing fancy like SVC, no front office or anything. just a bunch of guys working out of a warehouse type place.

pretty friendly guys, very fast, they didn't keep me waiting by the door like coughsvccough.

Go for it mike...

Cathodes are pretty cheap anyhow... Again like the others said, Case-Mod is a pretty sound company... I wouldn't worry..

Hey I noticed something. Maybe it's just a typo:

The kit description says "comes with TWO

Link

The UV $5.99 kit says "2 x 12" Cold Cathode Tubes included"

But it says "1 x Acrylic tube (for protection of the Cold cathode Tube"

So, does that mean that one tube is protected and one is not? Is this just a typo?

I know these questions are kind of dumb, but I am new to this.

Thanks!

I'm totally guessing here but I think the tube is extra, usually you don't get a tube.

cathodes are cheap. the labor required to prep the cathode is not much, but annoying. the inverter is the most expensive part.

Yep, it does. SVC also has this dual kit back in stock...for $5.99. Prices on these things rise and fall like the tide!

All competition - one place has it for X dollars, so the other place matches or beats the price. Walmart does that - prices fluctuating constantly. There was a price war back when Star Wars Episode II came out on DVD; I finally bought it when it got down to $9.88. They were lowering the price almost every shift.
Much cheaper, and we could light a room with these things. You could use a combination of red, green, and blue bulbs too, in equal portions - and with separate switches for each color. Just like my case will one day be, if I ever get around to finishing it.

I thought about doing two different colors (blue & green) and having two bulbs of each, and wiring them for all blue, all green or mix. But the logistics involved made it impossible...i.e. there's isn't enough room for four bulbs and two inverters...unless I used 6-inch bulbs, but even then it would be tight.

The 'dual sunbeam' kits come with 2 tubes and 1 inverter. It is basically a good deal that we were able to get our hands on, so we passed on the savings to you guys.

If you have any other specifc technical questions feel free to email me direct: furqan@case-mod.com

Too bad this kit doesn't come with the Sunbeam sound activated module. That thing seemed to be standard among the reviews of dual ccfl sunbeam kits, but its not in this kit.

I know it's a subjective thing, but I don't care for the sound activated kits. They'd be blinking so much, it would be distracting.

I've heard that the sunbeam CCFL's were good quality, so I grabbed one of these! When I think that I paid $24 last fall for a one tube light kit that's in my PC-65......sheesh!

If you've got a digicam, can you do me a favor, please? Take two pics. One showing how the light looks thru the window, and one with the side panel off showing where you put the light? Thanks very much!!

The deal should last through the end of the month. It may run longer just depends on how long we can keep getting this deal.

As far as the quality of the units, it comparable to the best CCFLs on the market.

That's good to know. I bought two. Hey, JokerF15, one question. These are dual kits, I know, but can you use just one light per inverter, or does it need both attached to function? Are the lights "disconnectable?"

the kit in my other case has a dual inverter but you can use it with one light, so i'd guess these are the same way.
