just saw this, and didn't find anything on it in a search
amd roadmap
it says at the bottom that the first dual core fx will be out Q4 2005, on socket 900, and use ddr II 667
this is the first i've seen of amd announcing they will use ddrII, as well as a new socket. from what i'd previously heard the dual cores would remain on 939.
it also looks like the 4000 will be the only 1 MB L2cahce processor we see without the fx name, as they will make the successive improvements on the winchester core(up to 3 GHz, 4400)
also, the fx 57 is scheduled for Q1 and the 59 for Q2 at 3 GHz so it looks like amd is confident in their ability to scale up to 3 GHz quickly
