Just curious if you all knew these were comming out. Obviously there are dual core Opterons, and many of you knew that opterons were migrating to the 939 socket. Did you know, however, that there are Dual core Opeterons for Socket 939? I can get you guys some part numbers soon, I'm working on adding them to our DB right now. Just thought I'd give you all a heads-up in case you hadn't heard!

EDIT 2:

Got it up on our site, so you can take a look at the detailed specs if you want:

Opteron Dual Core 165 1.8 Ghz Socket 939

EDIT: Just realized this may be fairly old news. Believe it or not, it was new to me... just noticed them in the distribution channels. So if this isn't particularly shocking news to you, my appologies

Well, here's an example:

OSA165CDBOX

Opteron 165, Dual Core, 1.8 Ghz, 1Mb Cache per core, Socket 939

Price looks to be around $447 give or take, it will change a bit I imagine.

in regards to single core, its a different core than the low end A64's. Basically its a san diego (for the opteron) instead of a venice( for the A64).

As far as the duals go, i really don't know how those cores lay out...

Now i think A64 can use ECC too. It is more of a motherboard thing.

Opterons can only use Registed RAM, A64 has to use unbuffered.

Opteron s939 can use unbuffered non-ECC RAM.

^ Yes.

I don't know how well these dual optys will do compared to the single optys though.

Their Will be no difference between any of the Opterons and Althon64s for 939 besides the Lowwer possible Clockspeeds for the extra cache, and the fact that they go through a more thorough testing for workstation and server use. So a 165 will perform just like a 4400+ clocked to 1.8. So any single and dual comparisons can be done like that.

I believe he sells the 146 for around $215 as well. I was just thinking of getting that one, but I forgot the exact website name. What was it again?
