Dual DVI-D on a AGP?

First of all a small explanation of what Dual DVI is:

"The Digital formats are available in DVI-D Single-Link and Dual-Link as well as DVI-I Single-Link and Dual-Link format connectors. These DVI cables send information using a digital information format called TMDS (transition minimized differential signaling). Single link cables use one TMDS 165Mhz transmitter, while dual links use two. The dual link DVI pins effectively double the power of transmission and provide an increase of speed and signal quality; i.e. a DVI single link 60-Hz LCD can display a resolution of 1920 x 1080, while a DVI dual link can display a resolution of 2048 x 1536"

and now...
Hello guys!
I'm on a trouble! I just got 30'' Dell screen but i can't use it atm, my problem is that the screen needs dual DVI-D card, and my X850XT doesn't has it.
I was thinking if i could find any AGP card with the dual DVI-D (notice that dual DVI doesn't mean 2x DVI outputs...)

If i can't find one i will have to move to a new computer with PCI-e and so on...

PD: I thought i should be able to actually use my card with this screen but at less resolution, i didnt had much time to test the thing. The monitor starts, shows the boot up screen, windows loading screen but when login message appears it keeps blank

Actually, "dual DVI" does mean 2x DVI outputs.

You need "Dual-Link DVI" and only a single port.

As far as AGP cards that support that ... I can't think of any offhand other than the X1600 "PC and Mac edition". Try searching the Video Forum for something with more power.

Oh :$ thanks hehe. Yes you understood what i was trying to say xD.
Anyway, the screen should at least work in another resolution right? I think the problem might be my last screens configuration (hertz and resolutions) i will try to set it at 1024x768@60hertz or even 640x480@60 and see if windows screen shows up

Thanks for the advice

As far as I know all 7 Series nvidia cards have at least one Dual Link DVI, if not 2. So the 7800GS AGP should do the trick.

However a quick search on newegg that took about 3 seconds reveals 33 cards. Click Interface AGP, maximum resolution 2560x1600....

BS. There is no reason other than a need for PCIe, why would he want to add 50% to the amount of $ he spent if he's happy with current performance and wanted the big screen for 2D/Movies, etc?

Good luck!

And enjoy that new screen! If I had the cash to blow, I'd be all over it.

Im back!
Screen is working but still got some troubles
I can only use 1024*768 resolution. I will try to explain the problem .
I can set a bigger resolution, but the desktops expands out of the screen limits so i have to pull my mouse to the corners to scroll the whole thing... its strange! I guess theres nothing i can do, should be the graphic card

Any ideas?

Thank you guys . I've been in many forums and noone answer as fast as you do

I live in Europe so i will have to look up those cards here! You think it's worth to wait the new AGP from ATI? (1650 and 1900 if im not wrong). That could make nvidia price drop or i could get the 1900 from ati and forget about a upgrade in a couple months ^^

I use a Matrox Parhelia 256MB AGP card that has dual DVI connectors. I can get 1600x1200. I can run 3 LCDs.

In you case, you need to run just 2 and it will do fine with that 30".

I'm sure you'll find any other AGP card by googling it. Good luck.

Are you telling him to get a dual DVI card without dual-link?

Any good dual DVI card will hookup to 2 monitors and run separate desktops. I'm giving him choices.
In this case on that card he can get 1600x1200 output connected to both outlets.

I know the Quadro FX cards are dual link but they are expensive and are not great for gaming.

The new ATi 1950AGP *should* be DVI-DL capable at least on one port.

I don't get it, how does your option help him get 2560x1600?
