That may be due to the fact that evga is no longer an ATI board member.

I would look at Amazon too. They charge no tax and free shipping for a large number of their products.

Also Amazon's return policy is includes free return shipping and no questions asked returns. Newegg on the other hand will ask you to pay return shipping, have a no-returns policy for the majority of the items in stock, and will charge restocking fees.

I'm not saying intel boards have any problem with crossfire. I'm saying that I've read that amd boards have problems with sli, or that their sli boards aren't as high quality as their crossfire boards. It could be wrong though, I don't know.

wow i missed this post..

OK back during LGA775 days, yes..

The X chipsets only supported Xfire, and the best chipsets were the X chipsets.

Ie.. X38, X48.

However during LGA1366 intel said please to nvidia while shoving them a ton of money under the carpet and they said OK.

So intel platforms POST LGA775 were all able to do both without any hitches.
And on top, on the X58 Scaling cards work better then AMD platforms.

So the arguement Xfire boards > SLI boards is moot.

That's a good price for a 580 Black Ops edition but not very good bang for your buck at 1200p. You can spend $230-250 for about the same gaming experience. I'd go with a 6950 or a cheap 570.

I agree with this as well. If you needed a 580 it would be a good deal, so you are better off getting yourself a 570, 560, or 6950.

Of course having 2 graphics cards will put you at a huge FPS advantage, but it also means you will need an SLI/Crossfire capable motherboard, and a PSU that can handle 2 cards. Also while you may have a higher average FPS you may run into issues such as microstutter, flickering, or in some cases just bad scaling (meaning you will not get as good of a boost as you expect). Of course it all depends on your situation. If you are running a 30" screen with uber-resolution, or 3 1080p monitors you may want 2 cards. But for "normal uses" such as 1080p, and 1200p a single good GPU (Such as the GTX 560ti, GTX 570, or HD 6950) Will do just fine.

If I always triple buffer/Vscync then 'microstuttering' would disappear completely, right?

Or can you not turn on VSync/triple buffer with CF?
