Just recently put in another PCI video card and a IBM 14 inch monitor to test WIndows Dual monitor capabilites and i've already run into a problem! First of all, i can't seem to move certain programs over to the second monitor. Secondly, the mor improtant problem is the fact that when i try to run a 3d accelerated game, that if i have share desktop w/ the second monitor, it will not run with just my Radeon, but owuld instead try to with the secondary one as well, making the game really really really slow (i'm using a S3 Virge VX). Any ideas on how to turn off 3d acceleration on the second display adapter? I know a while back, ALienware did that with the V3 and the Geforce 256 cards. They would make it so they turn off a card when running a certain game and have it linked to one monitor via a switchbox, so i konw it works. Any ideas?

What OS are you using?

If it's W2K, you can choose which monitor gets 3D games by going to Display control panel, settings tab, choosing the monitor, and checking "Use this device as the primary monitor."

Under Win9x, I think the first video card that the motherboard initializes will get your 3D games, but I'm not sure. Most motherboards will allow you to choose either AGP or PCI as first video card initialization.

To move windows to the second monitor, make sure they're not maximized.

I'm a Win9x idiot, so let us know what OS you're running and I can keep from putting my foot in my mouth.

Oops, forgot to say, i'm runninw Win ME (or basically 9x). And i can drag stuff into and out of the other monitor, just certain programs i can't (ICQ and my TV Tuner). But the 3d acceleration is pain. I already chose AGP card as main card in the BIOS.

Bumparoo, I'm really interested in finding out more about this particular problem. Through a strange coincidence I recently picked up a free 14" monitor and a crudy old PCI video card. I think it might even be that same S3 (I already have a AIW Radeon w/ a 19" monitor). I was thinking of fixing up a dual display system, so I hope this can get worked out good.

The only tv tuner I'm familiar with is the one on my AIW Radeon; does the LE Radeon have a TV Tuner as well? I don't see any others in your specs. I know that if the TV Tuner is on the vid card it would make since to not be able to move it to the other display since it would use overlays to output to the monitor (i.e. the tv signal doesn't actually leave the vide card).

This is all normal.
The second display can not be used for most games or apps, (such as ICQ or Tuner), and works best as an extension of your 2d desktop, for showing windowed apps, like IE. With openGL, you need to disable the "extend desktop" feature.
