Dual Monitors Problem

So I just got off for the summer from school where I had my laptop running a dual setup with an Acer 22" LCD and the laptop screen. I was able to make the primary desktop be on the LCD screen when it was plugged in. Now that I'm at home I wanted to run the dual setup on my desktop that has been plugged into an older 19" CRT monitor. However, no matter what I've tried, including updating my Nvidia drivers and running their setups, I cannot completely get all the kinks worked out. I was able to get my start bar and such on the larger, newer monitor but when I restart my computer cause I turn it off every night when I go to bed cause it's in my room, it throws all my desktop icons back on the smaller desktop. In the settings it says that the CRT is the 1st monitor and my LCD is the 2nd monitor. Is there a way to switch this so that the LCD is the 1st/Primary monitor? I think that that will fix my problem. Also I'm running this on XP.

Windows display Proterties. Set the one you want the icons/taskbar on to be the primary monitor.
You may also have to set the video card to use for booting in the BIOS.
Then the BIOS and Display Properties have to agree.

Thanks for the help. I had done that primary monitor thing in the properties already and I still had the icons problem. However, it finally started to work where the icons would be on the taskbar monitor. Thanks again.
