Dual PSU?

I was wondering, I have the CM Stacker and it supports dual psu's. I only have one mobo in there and I would like to run my mobo and video card off of one and my drives and fans off another psu. Is there a way to use 2 psu's at once? I have no idea how it would turn on the other psu or if there is a way to have the back power switch turn it on and off, something that wouldn't have to have the mobo tell it to turn on. Any ideas?

Yes you can, try searching the forum for dual psu, last year I have seen some post about shorting two of the pins in the 20 pin connector to the motherboard. This is done to turn the other PSU on. Try google otherwise, but it's definitely possible

This is easy to do (Edit: I'm not posting what pins). But, then there isn't an easy way to turn the 2nd PSU on and off w/o using the back switch. It won't turn on, and off with your main PSU, or front power switch.

I don't care about turning the power on/off as much, if I am correct if I have my HD's running off of the added psu and turn off the computer they won't run right? I could not believe how much my 6800 ultra sucked up and I don't want to much running off of my 550w, so i want to add another smaller one for my drives and fans + misc stuff, I'll be putting some high CFM fans in that will draw anywhere up to 20w and I don't want that being taking off of my main psu. So if shorting those 2 pins will allow me to turn the psu on/off via the back switch and not harming my computer I'm good with that.

What do you propose for shorting those 2 pins? A peice of wire should do it correct? What gauge? When you say "top" you mean the part that has the little thumb clip that clips onto the mobo correct?

If you get the CM stacker, it comes with a Ysplitter where both psus plug into an adapter and that adapter connects to the mobo. The mobo will tell the psus to stop transmitting voltage to their hardware.

hmm ya know, that makes more sense, haha, I have even looked at that cable and was like, why would anyone use this? Thanks for pointing that out Tiamat! Now i'm going to add my OCZ 520w to my Antec 550w and see what happens. Umm, any tips on wire managment LOL.
