Question Dual-Ranked DDR5-4800 Modules

Is it recommended to go with at least a 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5-4800 kit if I want DDR5-4800 that has dual-ranked modules? Is there a good chance that a 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-4800 kit will be only single-ranked modules? I'm just trying to do my research if I should go with 64GB or 32GB if I ever do upgrade to a 12700k/12900k and I don't really need 64GB but I want to be guaranteed dual-ranked modules and if I can be guaranteed dual-ranked modules with a 32GB (2x16GB) kit then I would rather go with the 32GB kit and save money and put it towards a better motherboard. I'm thinking about the Crucial DDR5-4800 kits.

Chances are that if you upgrade, in the future, the dimms out then will have higher density dram chips and much better specs. With that said, in my mind, there are two choices: 1) buy whatever is the best deal today without regard for upgrades. 2) accept that you'll be handicapping a future upgrade regardless.

You're probably better off going with the dual-ranked 2x32GB modules. I'm guessing all the newer dimms will have dram chips that are the same size as current ddr4 (8 chips each side for a 32GiB module), some will double that density soon if they havn't already.

If you plan to max everything out at some point in the future, i'd get the largest modules which are likely to be dual-ranked.

Sorry I couldn't be definitive, I can't get pictures of both sides of modules on newegg to verify if they are indeed dual-rank 8 dram per side. Some pictures are showing 4 dram per side.

Any word on when DDR5 will come (back?) into stock? G.Skill or Corsair, preferably. Been watching NewEgg and Amazon like a hawk, never saw them in stock, so either they haven't gotten inventory yet or they were gone in a flash before most folks had a chance to spot them.

Go to the memory manufacturers online website to buy. That is where I buy all my memory. Most off free returns and if the holidays, a 45 day window to return too! Use their memory compatibility database too! Just entry your cpu! Prices are the lowest found since they set the prices!

I did check those, and Corsair does sell direct but had no stock and G.Skill just offers a list of resellers to choose from. No stock. DDR5 is basically non-existent.

I like the shopblt model, where you can preorder just about anything and it ships when they get it.
Less stress. With the supply issues we keep hearing about, who knows. I'd imagine the manufacturers had months to prepare/stockpile dimms, but getting them to the stores is the challenge. Black friday and xmas are just around the corner too.
