Dual sim card with cell phone.. anyone use one?

My company just gave me a company cell phone that they expect me to have at all times. It's a piece of crap.

I already have a Motorola MPX220 which is superior to it in every possible way. It looks like I can buy a dual-sim adapter so I could use my Mpx220 for both my work number and my normal cell phone number so I would only have to carry one cell phone.

My normal cell phone is Cingular/AT&T and my work number is Alltel. Can I get the Alltel people to stick my cell phone info on a sim card?

How well does dual-sim work?

alltel uses cdma, which doesn't have sim cards. unless it's a grandfathered account from their western wireless purchase.

Interesting, apparently there is a similar card for CDMA technology called an RUIM (or CSIM) that is compatible with GSM SIMs and can physically fit into GSM phones. I don't think this technology is used in North America, though.

he really needs CDMA forwarding (from Alltel to AT&T). Of course, two things to keep in mind here: 1. there may be charges for call forwarding outside of the usual minute usage which his employers won't want to pay (check with Alltel) 2. if he uses all of his personal cell phone minutes, he shouldn't expect reimbursement for overages on his personal line from his employer, especially since they have specifically given him a phone for work purposes!

talk with others in your company and try to see if you can all get an option where you are reimbursed the price of the cell plan THEY give out and get your own which is always on hand?

IE... if their plan costs them 30$ a mo and yours cost 60... they only pay you 30$ and you use your personal phone as a work phone?
