Dual sound with Audigy2 and On-Board 5.1?

I have an MSI K7N2 motherboard with a Audigy2 sound card. I have disabled the sound on the motherboard but am wondering if both can work together. There is a new surround headphone by Zalman that uses the front, rear and center outputs from a 5.1 source. I would like to hook the Zalman phones to the onboard sound and keep my speakers on the Audigy2.

Is there any way to make them play nice??? I assume I'm going to get conflicts.

I doubt you'll be able to do what you want to. The best you can do is make midi play on one card, mp3 and wavs play on the other... CD audio on one... THat kinda stuff that you can control with the windows sound applet. Sorry.

What about an easy way to switch between them. I will be running either the headphone or speakers but not at the same time. I just don't want to have to get behind my unit and switch plugs. My case is under my desk and not the easiest to get to.

Do you think a simple registry hack of some kind would work. I want it to be quick and easy.

Any suggestions?

I also considered splitting the cables with 3 y-splitters but wondered if the sound card would be powerful enough to drive both of them.
