For me the game (after playing the demo) is about a 4/10.
but still getting it as it is duke.
That and the price I am paying for it ~$45US is better than the local $72US (after 10% off) that us Australian's are being offered the game for via steam.
Personally, Graphics are OK, but then I turned off motion bluring before I started the game (and any other reference to bluring).
I also turned off aim assist that was on by default (IT"S ON THE PC!!!!!!!!!).
Gripes witht the game is the running system. The noise (puffing) was off to my liking, but then he is ment to be a OLD man. That and it is not hold to run, but more of a click then release to enable running.
boss battels, well, the ending "kill move" style sucks. mashing keys is a pass.
car was ok, but having to press "e" to start the thing (IIRC) when already in the car was stupid, but that is proberly just the demo hacking levels together).
Duke vision, well, that is just stupid. Thought my video card was broken / game was broken until getting near the end of the second level to see what it actually is, and then it makes the name of it extra stupid.
Not sure if turning aim assist off helped vs one complaint I read about the rocket launcher, but I could fire as I wanted with it. Had a problem of putting it down when it was out of ammo to try a different gun, but having the gun vanish on me so nearly had to re-load the level (found a second one? or the first that had moved out of my reach).
The rail style game play is very restrictive. Even for areas where I can see I should be able to get to to pick up objects, but am blocked from doing that.
The lag on some interactions is just painfully slow from a PC FPS player. click and wait 1/2-1 second for animation to occur is just painful.
The video clips where you are not in control gets tiring very fast, but did not find a way to skip them. Of note is near the end of the second level. Sure I would just spend several seconds dusting myself off when the enemy is just a car length away waiting to shoot me. Rather bad implementation on the level designers for that.
Mouse control did appear broken at one point in the first level, but at the time, I had 2 mouse pointers on the screen from alt-tabing. The normal mouse did not work and needed the slower "in game" mouse to do anything, but it was near useless with both on screen.
There is some talk I noticed that this was the demo shown about a year ago. If that is the case, then I sure hope it is not released to anyone but the first access club as it is a crap demo. But then it just makes me hope the final game is better.
Just got to wonder now if the international release is US time or local time. If US, then for me, the difference between the two dates is not going to be too great.
