Duke Nukem Forever on Steam

Anyone having graphical problems? I get a weird clipping issue when moving the mouse around. The textures 'stutter' across the screen. Similar to, say when you win at solitaire the cards bounce around.

I have a 5850 with CAT 11.5b the latest hotfix. I tried windowed and full screen modes. messing with the very limited settings in video options and disabling my eyefinity.

After playing a few minutes of the demo, I have doubts about paying the current asking price for DNF.

Well... that was disappointing. The gunplay was pretty fun I guess. The humor is hit and miss. The graphics started out OK, but once you get into larger areas with longer view distances, suddenly it didn't look so good. It's like most of the game is very "blurry"; did anyone else experience this? I mean, it was acceptable looking for the most part, but anything more than 10 feet in front of me just looked really blurry.

Also, very consolized. Maybe this was expected, but actually, it felt even MORE consolized than I thought it would be. I thought the FOV was too narrow and it made me kind of sick.

Guys, seriously, this game does NOT have 12 years of development behind it.
The IP was purchased recently and they shat out a game quickly.
Keep it in perspective.

You're partially correct. 3D Realms still developed most of Duke Nukem Forever (in its current form). In fact, they had a nearly-finished game before they went bankrupt and handed it over to Gearbox. So while it certainly doesn't have 12 years of development behind it, they didn't exactly "shit it out" either.

Fixed it. Make sure to turn any AA options in CCC to 'Application Preference'

The mountains in the distance after the truck, they look like they were taken from half-life.

In other words, some of the graphics in the distance look like they were taken from the late 1990s.

Very consolized feel as i expected.

What a pile of junk. I would not play it if it was given to me as a gift. I own too many games that are far superior for me to waste my time with this turd.

I think that's why they let you pick up a wet turd as soon as you start the game, to acknowledge the fact that you have, well, picked up a wet turd and are proceeding to play with it.

Wow. Just overwhelmingly negative reviews of the demo. I just submitted my ticket to cancel the pre-order. Probably should have just pre-ordered BF3 in the first place.

Edit: Steam Support refunded my pre-order on Saturday. Very nice customer support.

It was a decent demo - however the mouse control is busted as is the occasional 'glaucoma' vision.

\still planing to buy, but still waiting to see what deals come out.

I wouldn't base a game on a demo. Demos are usually nothing more than a beta build of a game with many things disabled and/or unpolished. I don't think DNF will be anything extraordinary to begin with. Nothing revolutionary in tech or graphics. Probably nothing more than an average good game. Which wouldn't be a bad thing. I'm waiting for reviews of the finished game before opening my wallet.

Very blurry at distance view. Crappy controls even with tweaks.

2 weapons at a time is terrible.

It's still Duke, but I'll wait for it to go on sale for $14.99 or less before I buy it.

Wow - what a crappy buggy consolized demo.

- Can only carry 2 different types of weapons [not including grenades]
- couldn't move the truck at the start of the 2nd area
- couldn't get out of night vision mode
- mine cart raced up the track and became lodged in the invisible ceiling barrier

ANd..yes...it's already on the Torrents with a crack - but much easier to just use the pre-order trick

Yeah, it's supported out of the box and works just fine. I prefer to use m/kb though.
