Well in the stadium shots they are lowres for a reason. Apparently the game would've started with Duke playing his own videogame (Duke3d) on an arcade before his interview in a talk show.
You would defeat the boss in the stadium, Duke would walk away from the arcade and the medium level grafix would suddenly be a lot better and shinier and FOREVER would start.

I thought that was a brillant touch.

You are all delusional. If this game really had any chance of being completed do you really think that they would have shut down the studio? It was the logical thing to do, they had been sitting on their ass for 13 years and the only thing they had to show for it were some screenshots and a teaser. It was absurd. Good riddance.
Your ignorance is downright offensive.

Go be an ass in the Off Topic or P&N forums.

How so? Has there been some demo that I have not heard of? If my opinion truly is so ignorant would you care to englighten me?

Because there's all sorts of evidence pointing to the fact that the game was nearly completed.

Like I said, I'll be very surprised if we don't hear an announcement about this game at E3.

Wow, I used to crack jokes about how I couldn't pass away until I got to play Duke Nukem Forever. I guess I can RIP now. lol

Not for nothing, I am actually super upset at the cancellation of DNF, but at least it's a conclusion to this whole mess.

I couldn't imagine paying a group of people for 13 years to provide a product and not come through. DNF deserved to die at this point -- they needed to pull the plug.

They would be stupid to abandon the Duke franchise, it's still worth some money, whether 3d Realms completes the game or sells the right I'd be surprised if they abandoned it altogether.

I hate to say it and I hope I'm wrong, but dude you're kidding yourself. The game is dead. Accept it.

I for one am ready to accept that Duke Nukem Forever is dead, but not the name nor the franchise, it can still make money, just give another Duke Nukem project to another development team and it has potential. The "fun" that has been made around the Forever title over the past decade due to its delays and absence isn't due to a poor franchise, what I mean is that people made fun of it simply because it took that long for basically nothing to happen, the thing is the actual game was interesting, who did NOT have fun with Duke Nukem 3D?

Lots of people made fun of it (Forever) but it was mostly done in jest rather than in actual hate or desire to boycott the franchise if it would have ever been released or anything like that, real gamers and especially ol' school FPS fans all wanted that damn game to actually be released, but we all liked to make fun of it as well, without having any bad intentions behind the humor, the only ones who might have negatively interpreted that "fun" over the years could have been the 3D Realms team themselves, but even they I believe just went over it over the years, they just accepted it and it probably became part of the video gaming culture and history.

Heck, just play Serious Sam II and you'll understand what I mean, even other developers made fun of it.

LOL, reminds me of the awesome part in Space Quest 5 (I think) where you go back in time, and the graphics are all EGA.

That game looked pretty fun in the leaked video. It doesn't really seem like a hoax to me that its canceled...but WTF? Those first person body shots are awesome.

At least we got Serious Sam The First and Second Encounter later released together as the gold edition and Serious Sam II.

These games were released at a budget price like $20 and delivered on fun.

Serious Sam gold edition was released when we didn't have a new Doom game as Doom 3 wasn't known about and Duke was still taking forever and was a blend of both of those types of old school shooters. So if you haven't checked out Serious Sam Gold and Serious Sam II, give em a look.

There the closest thing to a next Duke Nukem shooter.

Hopefully some fans will make some good FPS duke games or mods.

I was just playing some Serious Sam Second Encounter with my SO last night. I think I play it at least 4 times a week still. Love the series.

It hasn't nothing to do with kidding myself. I'm not even a big fan of Duke Nukem in the first place, so I frankly don't care if the game comes out or not personally. I'm just saying, the franchise is worth too much and too much time and money has been put into this project by various people for it never to come out.

At this point.....If I ever walk into a store and see the box on a shelf....Then I might believe the game is out.

Someone might pick it up and finish and release it. Or they will bury it.

I do think with all the time and money invested in 12 years that someone would pick it up and release it, since 3D Realms was slacking off.

Well see, well see.... Duke was a thing in the 90s. 12 years is a long time. But then again people love nostalgia these days. So only time will tell what happens with Duke Nukem.

Didn't Prey suffer these same fate? It was canned then later resurrected and released? :Q

Well this is interesting, Take Two is suing 3D Realms for failing to deliver the game.
http://digg.com/d1rGJZ

Take-Two Interactive, publisher of Duke Nukem Forever, has filed suit against the remains of Apogee Ltd./3D Realms for failing to deliver the long-awaited title.

Take-Two claims that an agreement to finish the shooter was breached when 3D Realms shut down development last week. At the time of the studio's closing, Duke Nukem Forever had been in development for over 12 years.

"Apogee continually delayed the completion date for the Duke Nukem Forever," says Take-Two in the complaint, according to Bloomberg. "Apogee repeatedly assured Take-Two and the video-gaming community that it was diligently working toward competing development of the PC Version of the Duke Nukem Forever."

See the link for details.
