Eh...there is the question of where exactly she got the $400k (wiped out her husband's retirement account? Was he aware of this? Did he sign off on it?). There's also the whole "funding terrorism" thing, which although ridiculous (they're Nigerian sleazeballs, not Al Qaeda) might well get good play in this day and age.

The sad part is that she can make a colossal mistake like this to the tune of $400k, she's able to make it back in "3-4 years", and now some corrupt scumbag Nigerian is living like a king for the rest of his life using his ill-gotten gains to lord over the many desperately poor whom the money could actually help.

How can a person who commends a relatively high salary be so stupid?

What does money have to do with intelligence?

The highest paid people around are the football players, not the theoretical physicists.

Maybe they could charge her with being a knowing accessory to the perpetrators of the scam since (apparently) she's aware of it now.

Actually, the whole idea of getting something for nothing is more of a Democrat idea, not Republican.

$400,000 is not nothing.

Democrat idea is more like the free ipod scams IMO.

How does someone this stupid have access to $400K to begin with ??

Read the article. She took out loans against her house and car and everything she had basically. Her life's savings and capital.

People fall into a psychological trap of trying to swim out of quicksand by pushing harder and sinking faster. The first $100 was easy, but it kept escalating and she didn't want to cut her losses and walk away losing. She held on to a hope that it would all pay off somehow. It's a type of desperate delusion where people convince themselves that even the most improbable of outcomes may be achievable. It's probably the same rationale of gamblers losing their houses where the odds are greatly stacked against them. It's easy to mock the apparent stupidity of these people but regarding the conditions and motivations behind it can make it seem a bit more understandable.

Funny, but I do feel bad for her and her husband. How would you feel if you were the husband? I think she'd disappear quicklike.

Haha!

Now, Spears has gone public with her story as a warning to others not to fall victim.
EVERYONE was telling her it's a scam! EVERYONE else already knows! Ugh, stupidity really has no limits.

I'd love to have her as my nurse. She'd give you a sot of morphine, then come back 15 minutes later and give you another one, and she wouldn't stop until you were dead. She could have police there restraining her and she'd still be making a beeline for the corpse, syringe held in her teeth like a pirate, grunting like a distressed rhino, completely convinced that just one more morphine shot and everything will be fine.
