We pretty much have a screenshots page ready to go, we just need to get an XP screenshot of the new file transfer box. It should be up by the end of the day.

simple as in not bloated? or simple as in .exe files and windows? or you mean simple as in recompiling kernels and such? hehehe lol

Simple as in clean and small. Documentation helps too

<< hey n0cmonkey, is that some sort of hint that you want more documentation? >>

No. But you can take it as a suggestion. Documentation is always good, especially commenting your code!!! I hate looking through code and not seeing comments. Of course, Im not a coder so it doesnt really matter all that much

The code is staying fairly well commented, don't worry about that, if it ever opens up it won't be too ugly. Plus, good code will read like a novel anyway and be self explanatory

We'll think about a manual, but if it gets to that point the software is no longer intuitive and we will have missed our goal somewhat.

Alright, now that the feature list includes most of the basic features...

What would it take for you to switch over? Other than having your friends switch too? What sort of features would you want to see? Remember, they don't have to be features that already exist elsewhere. People are using it, but what's a killer feature that would be very compelling?

And for another sneak peek, here's yet another feature we're going to implement: inline substitution even in message. For example, you could set %up to say "I'm getting up for a minute, I'll be right back", and you could even do them recursively, so you could program %up to be "hey %n, I'm getting up for a minute, I'll be right back" and %n would then parse to your buddy alias. I think this is pretty useful.

Thanks in advance!

More sneak peeks to come.

OK, I've always had a theory that when threads get to be so long, nobody reads them anymore. I think I have found that point. Or, perhaps, there just isn't any interest anymore.

This post is just for satisfying my curiosity as to this quandry...

Just wanted to share--something else now that I've learned that's very useful--while implementing macros I had to prevent recursive substitutions, and I solved the problem recursively, so I had to have a way to detect infinite recursion. Figuring that out was very valuable, and, if you'll note, such a problem is a general algorithms problem, and doesn't even really pertain to chat programs. That, however, is why I take on projects--for what you can learn.

To everyone who said they didn't like the web site, it's been overhauled, hopefully it's better now.

Its looking good. Got a rough count on the number of users you have? Or how active they are (without wading into privacy issues )?

Yeah, we got about 150 members, with about 25 of them what I would call active. Not too bad in my opinion. Some people have never logged in after we made their account, though, so who knows.

It's definitely growing.
