What's with the rampant criminality in the Republican party nowadays?
Nowadays? The fact that there were Republican officials who stood by and endorsed Trump should tell you all you need to know. No one who cares about the country instead of their pockets would make that choice. And it's no coincidence his #1 and #2 endorser are all in Legal trouble.

I'm pretty sure this is what Republicans have in mind when they go on about 'bootstraps' and such...

Regardless of the corruption case, he needs to be thrown out of office just for being so horrible with money.

Don't give him a cent of tax dollars to spend

The typical Republicans are not fiscal conservatives. The real fiscally responsible are Democrats unfortunately, which isn't saying much.

However, don't be fooled by the typical Republican/Libertarian by their fiscal conservative chant. They are full of sh1t

Huh? He was just mimicking his life the way the GOP runs government and then blames it on someone else....just like they do now.

Well we are growing our debt >$1T a year and rising, so yeah, I guess he fits in with the GOP just fine.

Just need some stories on banging Congressional pages or getting a secret abortion for his best friend's wife he impregnated to round it out.

It has a lot to do with who is at the top. If the President is clean, believes in open government and insists on those below him being the same it works out far better. Decent vetting has a whole lot to do with it as well. Witness Ford, Carter and Obama.

OTOH if the President is inclined towards secrecy, hires cronies on a whim/ superficial first impression and is (to put it very mildly) either not concerned about morality at all other than to give it lip service, well that's the current prescription for rampant corruption and scandals. It is not a coincidence that we have nearly daily scandals with this Administration.

Ironically what Trump backers claimed as his greatest strength when he was running has proven to be one of his worst weaknesses.

Conservatives are just as fiscally irresponsible as Democrats. The tea party that took over several years back seemed moreso but that died out.

Worse. Dems don't cut taxes for people who don't need tax cuts & borrow to cover the difference.

Yeah, but Dems don't have the "Laugher" curve (SIC) to make up the difference either....duh!!!

You know...as rates go to zero, revenue goes to infinity....1/x type of function.

Tea party wanted to cut taxes but most importantly cut spending. Spending has to be cut, the only fiscally responsible thing to do. It has to be cut before even thinking about tax cuts imo. Spending is the problem, government has to shrink not grow.

Why does it have to shrink? The population is growing.....

I disagree totally. WASTEFUL spending needs to be cut. Properly spent government money has a multiplier effect in growing the economy and infrastructure.

As to where government spending should be cut, may I make two small suggestions::

(1) we move to a first world healthcare system. Free enterprise capitalism hasn't been a significant factor in healthcare since WWII with the tax deductibility of employer funded group health insurance and the vast rise in government paid health insurance (VA, Medicare, etc.). Our patchwork system is a pathetic joke and insanely expensive.

(2) Our military budget. For example it costs us roughly $1,000,000 to send a single soldier to Afghanistan, for example. Not to mention the insane amounts we spend to develop weapons to fight the last war. Billion dollar bombers are useless against terrorists.

Maybe if the teabaggers would actually react against the vested interests feeding off the government trough instead of being their patsies their movement might make some sense. Instead they are being used in the time honored fashion-convince part of the masses that it is another part of the masses that are the problem.

Running a business?
If you are in a legitimate business you go to your bank for a short term loan to cover your expenses, of course you need a business with a set of books. This just sounds like crazy rich living beyond their means. Entitlement disease with a bit of trumpist affluenza mixed in.
