Dune Special Edition 3 disk DVD Direcor's Cut at Target - $10.00

It's been awhile since I last posted a Hot Deal - this looked like one to me.

While at Target for another reason today, I picked up the Dune Special Edition 3 disk DVD Direcor's Cut at Target for $10.00. This is the SciFi version, not the horrid, made for theater, original version. I haven't had the chance to sit down and watch it yet, but it HAS to be better than the original.

It's pretty good.

I have that and the follow up Children of Dune that came on SciFi also. My wife likes 'em at least. I've never watched all of them, but they seemed pretty good quality.

Decent acting/casting, special effects, and the plot was already taken care of for them

The general public found dune horrid. Not most sci-fi fans.
I read all the dune books, 9 I think, between father and son, but I've never seen the series. Seriously, is it good?

The SciFi version suffered only from some really bad special effects, but other than that was actually very good. Better than the David Lynch version from what I remember of it.

The SciFi verison of Children of Dune (which was actually made from the next 2 books in the series combined together) was actually even better in my opinion.

I've had that movie for a few years now. I'd say that it is pretty faithful to the book compared to other versions I've seen. I didn't even know that they made a Children of Dune. Now I'm gonna have to get that. I will say though that this isn't a jaw dropping deal though (bought it 2 years ago for about $15). Still not bad.

Yeah, Children of Dune is worth getting. Very good series.

This was $6.99 at Circuit City last week and is regularly $9.99 at Fry's so I don't
think $10 is a hot deal. Looks like the regular price now.

I've seen the Sci-Fi movies, but i much prefer the original. Aside from the scenes with the worms its surprising how well it holds up, in terms of special effects, for a movie from 20 years ago. Just my 2 cents.

The di Laurentiis version is top shelf!
In a tight group of the top half dozen. Superb!

Another vote for Lynch's version. One of my favorite movies.

The SciFi version, however, is wholly uninteresting, boring even.
