Ended up picking up the game and trying it out. Most of the criticism here is pretty much spot on.
Camera and controls - bad. Only 2 camera distances. And neither zoom out far enough. I was constantly getting attacked by ranged mobs off camera. Plus, not being able to click on the screen to move was a bit frustrating with this type of game. And I had a habit of becoming semi stuck on terrain, until I could figure out the exact direction to run backwards in to get off whatever had me snagged.
These types of rpg's rarely have what i'd consider exceptional stories. And, this one was pretty typical. Enough of one to get the game started, but nothing really past that.
I actually played as the gun witch character, the one most agree is the useless character. I don't have anything really to compare it against, but i didn't find it that bad, really. Rifles did alot more damage than the pistols, but you die quickly using the rifles, since everything runs at you immediately to get in melee range. I'd only get a few shots off with the rifle and then have to pull out the pistols.
Of course, having said all that, I'm only a few hours into the game. I still only have a choice of 1 party member, the elemental. Perhaps the game changes majorly in some way after this. Still considering if I want to spend more time with the game or not right now.
