Are you serious?? The only thing worse than a half-baked dungeon crawler is a half-baked dungeon crawler with no loot or experience points.

Yup...I think LAN coop you share, but the host of the online games is the only one who will get any XP/Loot; all other players are basically henchmen to the host.

Note that what I mean is that you can pick stuff up in the game, but they wont carry over to your game; they'll just stay in that host's game.

Went through the demo this morning, and I have to agree it seems pretty bland. The skills are very generic (though the masteries and talents do add a bit of depth to them), the graphics and animations range from bad to decent, and so far the voice acting is pretty bad (especially for the female protagonist). I was having a bit of fun blasting through groups of enemies, but I can't see myself picking up this game for more than $15-20.

Every single time I see this thread title, I read Disciples III Excrement for some reason. I'm looking forward to the game though. Makes me a bit sad hearing this stuff about the demo, hopefully it is just the demo but I doubt it

Gamespot said:
Having items that only certain characters can use helped alleviate some of the "finder's keepers" mentality when playing in multiplayer with friends. While local cooperative play only supports up to one other person, you can play with an entire group of four online. However, players who aren't the host for that session will be playing pro bono, meaning they won't be gaining any loot or experience for the characters in their game. On the whole, playing Dungeon Siege III didn't feel far removed from our time with the first-person shooter/role-playing-game hybrid Borderlands. All the simple pleasure of collecting loot and completing quests with your friends were there, and we're excited to see how Obsidian fleshes out these characters in the final release. You can get your hands on Dungeon Siege III this June on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. And, if you're hungry for more information, be sure to check out our daily demo of the game

I'll probably end up acquiring it and just playing with a friend over Hamachi. No way I'll officially support this stupid decision.

You'll also acquire a long vacation if you advocate piracy here. Please don't do that.

http://www.destructoid.com/obsidian-explains-dungeon-siege-iii-co-op-shenanigans-195120.phtml

We recently chatted with Obsidian about it, and found out you do get XP ... for a dedicated co-op character.

"To bring this vision to fruition while maintaining both the deep story-based experience of the game and the balance of characters versus enemies, your single player characters will be distinct from your multiplayer characters -- however both can be persistently grown, equipped and adventured with over multiple game sessions.

So there you go. If you decide to dabble in Dungeon Siege III's multiplayer, you'll actually be juggling two characters.

Lame!!

The title of this thread should be :

"Dungeon Siege III - Excrement?"

Seriously. Dungeon Siege I and II were somewhat okay, but nothing really great.

Apologies on advocating the piracy.

In all honesty, with D3 possibly coming out as soon as it may be, does anyone see a reason to bother getting this?

I dunno, I'm just not feeling it with D3 for some reason. Every time I look at it I see wow. I'll hold judgement till I can play it, but right now I have no excitement for the game.

I loved the first but played solely co-op. Second was meh. Hope the third has as good co-op as the first.

I don't look at D3 and Dungeon Siege as direct competition. The 2 series have always been pretty unique to each other.

I guess it could tide folks over a bit until D3, but really does look rather turgid.... still, no doubt some low-tech fun to be had. Maybe.

Loved the first two, played them a lot in college after I got bored of DII. Was a bit worried a different dev team was picking up this sequel, and so far from everyone's demo comments, my fears were well placed, and it sounds like the game sucks. A shame. Will be looking forward to Torchlight 2.

I downloaded and tried it.....it seemed ok. I have the first Dungeon Siege but never played the second. I didn't have huge expectations for this game so maybe that's why I thought it was ok. Nothing blew me away but it was ok for what it is. I don't think I'd want to pay full price for it though. Having said that, I think it's worth downloading and trying. It's a sizeable download though so beware (around 1400-1500mb).

Played the demo. I spent about an hour and a half in it finishing it, played as the Archon(sp?). The graphics were pretty good, in 3D it looked real nice as well. Overall I did enjoy it, a lot more then I thought I would from others opinions on the demo.

Holy shit, I just played the demo. What a steaming pile of shit. The controls are god awful and clunky, the camera angles make the game unplayable, important things are bound to nonsensical keys, the graphics look atrocious, bland, and blurry, and the dialogue is fuck awful. This isn't Dungeon Siege.

Played the demo last night.
Was so bad I couldn't even talk about it. Had to sleep.
Woke up this morning and realized it wasnt a dream. Game is genuinely bad. Mostly the clunky controls and interface, but largely the big fat glob of generic fantasy and story telling. Nothing new here. The elementalist was kinda fun, until I realized her fireballs were surprisingly weak and she get stomped easily.

For those who preordered to get DS1 and 2, I apologize.
For everyone else: This is a bargain bin title, trust me.

Based on the Demo, it Completely SUCKED!!!! Chris Taylor should be kicked in the crotch for serving as an "advisor" to Obsidian on this game. At the same time, Obsidian should have any licenses, contracts, verbal promises, or handshakes pulled for the CRAP they are trying to peddle.

How can these two, given all they have accomplished separately for PC Gaming (Total Annihilation, Fallout Series, Neverwinter Nights, Supreme Commander, Dungeon Siege, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, and most of the best RPGs ever) even consider releasing this garbage. Talk about setting PC Gaming and RPGs back about 15 years!
