Thanks for the post. Got it for $59.54 delivered. Read many of the reviews and only hope I can get it to work on the wireless link. Seems many folk did not, but that is the way I would like to use it so all of the computers on my LAN can print to it.

Nice deal. Looks like egg Is sold out! Will staples still honor the price match even though newegg is sold out???

Amazon was the same price as NewEgg for a little while too, wouldn't be surprised if eventually it came back down again.

I haven't had time to set mine up yet, it's sitting here in the box being used as a bookshelf.

Me too. I am a fan of this printer. The wireless let me put it in the other room so I don't have to smell the ozone when it's printing.

Side note: If a small laser printer like this one causes brownouts big enough to reset your router, you have a problem with your electric supply or wiring, not with the printer. Sometimes my lights flicker a bit but other than that I have never had issues with this printer or the HL-2040 I used before it.

Loudest computer component I have ever heard -- about like crushing ice in an Osterizer. We used to -- back in the 40's and 50's -- house teletype machines in a sound muffling enclosure to make them tolerable in an office. Guess I'll have to look for one of those enclosures in a surplus place

Crisp clean printing though, even on very small font sizes

That's surprising-I've had three Brother printers or MFCs and all have been quiet or normal sound volumes-certainly nothing like a dot matrix much less a teletype. Maybe something is wrong with yours.

hopefully this isnt a loud printer! i just bought this for my grandma, she doesnt like inkjet and i dont blame her for that.

i paid $79 shipped. i didnt want to mess with the pricematching stuff. i also opted to pick up in-store, which will make me feel better knowing it be thrown around by my local handlers.

well, $81 shipped. i had to pay for that coupon ($1.67)

Heads up - this is now $99 at Staples ($50 instant off, stackable). Or if you just want to buy it direct, it's $89 shipped at B&H:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Wireless.html

I had a $25 off $100 Staples coupon and that worked, although I had to add in some pens to get it to $100 (it was $99.99). They nicked me about five bucks for tax too. Didn't bother pricematching to B&H, oops. Thx OP!

I used a $25 off $75 coupon with this for a total of $74.99 today. Not hot but not too shabby for sure.

Got mine in today. Real easy setup - smart packaging that only takes a minute to unbox, then I just downloaded the latest driver (not the bundle) off Brother's website & set the software to duplex by default. It is a noisy laser, but not much louder than my Samsung or Konica lasers. Still makes my lights flicker like the others I have. Slightly larger footprint than the other lasers, but also shorter in height. Not as smelly as my other ones - the Konica especially made my room stink like burnt toner.

Prints REALLY fast. The auto-duplex feature is super nice - it prints it out about 3/4 of the way, sucks it back in, then spits it back out. It keeps the duplex printing rolling right along - I didn't know how long the duplex feature would take but it sucks it right back in and spits it right back out, so it's pretty dang quick. I printed out a small booklet front & back as a test - saves a LOT of paper. Thanks OP!

Make sure you get a USB cable if you're hooking up locally! (doesn't include one - hit up Monoprice if you need one cheap)

I saw the B&H price, PM'ed and used a $25 off $75 coupon. It came the next day and already setup over the wireless. I paid about $67 or shipped incl. taxes. I bought one of these a while ago (few weeks ago) when it was $90 out the door, used a coupon then and paid about the same. Very nice printer.

Yeah, it's a super nice little printer - fast to unbox, easy setup. I was up and printing in like 5 minutes. Great deal!

Black Toner - $31 shipped (1200 pages)

High-Yield Black Toner - $47 shipped (2600 pages)

Man, even the toner is stupid cheap - my other toners are $80 - $120 a pop. Nice!

That's because the drum is separate from the toner, unlike many other printers. You have to replace the drum every few toner cartridges.

Does your old one have and would you use:
duplex printing
LAN
WiFi

Same as my old ones. Just the toner is cheaper than on my old Samsung & Konica.

Well Im not sure if I *need* duplex that badly. it would be nice but hasn't bothered me too much yet.
I do have a jetdirectcard and plugged this into a spare linksys router made into an AP. I suppose if thats the only things I gain I could wait longer...

this thing is awesome! i installed it through device manager and it was spittin out pages within a minute. its really not that loud at all, its whirring noise is quieter then most of the clunky sounds in inkjet printers.

and it only takes about 3 seconds to warm up. and then a full-page text document spits out faster then my canon ip4000 can pass paper though unprinted.

excellent printer. way more value then i expected from an $80 unit. if i needed a document printer this would easily be my choice now....

my thoughts exactly. I have no issues with noise and wireless setup was a piece o' cake with wps.

Not sure why people are still using inkjet printers these days.

As soon as you can find me a reasonably priced color laser that can print in a 13" x 19" format, let me know. Till then, we'll always have at least one inkjet in the house.
