hmm...I just built my new system...
but when i turn on the power switch,
it does not proceed anything after RAM checking seems successfully done...
("OK" message appears on the screen)
according to my previous experience in that case, the next step should be
detecting of IDE devices but nothing happens and entire system halted...
(keyboard either doesn't operate)
there's no error message or any beep sounds, just halted itself while i did nothing for it!!
is there anybody experienced same or similar situation with me or knowing why this happens?
please help me to fix the problem T.T

my simple spec is

CPU: duron 700 (cooler included with the retail box)
M/B: ABIT KT7 non RAID
RAM: 128MB PC133 * 2 brand name
VGA: ATI RAGE FURY
HDD: Maxtor 30GB 7200RPM
CASE: Aopen HX08 (/w AMD approved PS)
Aopen Keyboard and Logitech Wheel Optical(USB with PS2 converter)

i just tested with only the above spec.
any other devices (Sound Card, NIC, etc) are not on my system currently.
all devices work fine with my another system, so i guess
the motherboard has problem itself since it has manufactured at the factory..
but not sure for certain.. please help me how to fix it.. T_T

make sure your ide cables are plug in nice and snug, but did you check if your floppy drive is installed correctly?

heh...thanks for your reply tigger..but..
even it halted when i dont connect anything into IDE connectors,
floppy drive, but connected only cpu, ram and graphic card..
according to that result it's certainly the motherboard problem
so i decided to go to retailer to exchange it to new one..
hope it will work fine...

I just built a pc with Duron 700 and KT7 non-raid last night and had the same problem. I think I know the solution.

1. Enter cmos set
2. Choose "Standard CMOS Feastures", the second option from top
3. Choose "IDE Primary Master" which should show your hard drive if detected (if the hard drive is not detected, and the cables are seated correctly, then check bios for auto detect of hard drive)
4. Next screen after selecting "IDE Primary Master" is information on the hard drive detection. Make sure it reads as follows:

IDE Primary Master = AUTO
Access Mode = AUTO

Save CMOS settings (F10), reboot, and it should work.
