Duron 700 Overclocking

People, please, i am having a very hard time overclocking my Duron 700. Nothing works. (I unlocked it with pencil).
Could you post your settings on the CPU setup page, so that me, and people like me can do this job right?
I mean multiplier, voltage , CPU FSB/PCI Clock and CPU FSB plus (i dont even understand what this one means).
And please, please, instead of lecturing me on how I shouldnot do this if I dont know what I am doing, please just give me some advice i can use.

If you want some good answers you really need give a little more information as to what you have tried and what your results were. Also include a rundown of your hardware (MoBo/Mem/Graphics/Sound/NIC) so that people know what you're working with.

Most folks here pretty much scramble all over each other trying to help so you're in the right spot....

your multipliers arent working is that what you're having trouble with? if it is, maybe try redoing the pencil marks, or do it with loctite or something, and make sure none of the bridges crossed

ok, here it is.
i have an
ABIT KT7 mobo
352 sdram
geforce 2 gts
sound blaster live

ok, the problem is that i tried to play with the multipliers. I tried 133x9, 100x9, even 100x8. As soon as i saved and exited the BIOS, i did not get to Windows, but to a blank, black screen. In fact, I think that the monitor went on standby. I thought that if i raised the power voltage a bit it would work, so I tried 1.85 V, but it still did not work. I checked if I connected the bridges the right way on the CPU and I did.
I dont know if it is normal that the monitor dies down after I save and exit the BIOS, or whether this happens due to the fact that i have the wrong specifications for the CPU.
Help...........i really need it.
Rightnow, I run the CPU at its normal speed, 700mhz.

simple...you psu..

how many fans do you have hooked up

also make sure you do not touch the fsb multiplier. leave it at host.
and the plus fsb at 0


now up your cpu to 750. and exit cmos.

save.

try 5x100 and 6x100 etc first to make sure you have &quot;unlocked&quot; your CPU properly

Once again, the pencil trick does not work all the time. Now either redo the pencil trick(and try other pencils too), or go buy a conductive pen or one of those Loctite rear window defogger kits. Either of those two work much better, and are more permanent than that crappy pencil trick that doesn't really work all the time.

I found this out by accident once w my K7T-Raid.

When I changed the processor settings in the bios, nothing would happen.
The monitor LED would go amber, and the machine would not post.
I always had to go in and clear the CMOS.

One time, I hit the reset button (when I was trying to shutdown and clear CMOS) instead of the power button. After I realized that, I went to the power button. After a second, the machine booted, with my changed settings. Wierd I know, but it worked.

It kept working too. Now I'm running my Duron 650 @ 950 with no problems.

By the way, I changed from a no name HSF to a Tai-sol 733902, and my temp dropped by 8-9 Degrees.

I now run idle around 36 and 42 with Prime95 running, which use to get around 50.

Are these temps OK?

By the way, what should I be doing with the Host CLK or Host CLK + PCI CLK ?

And the 4-way interleave ? Don't really know what this is.

Well u were asking if your temps were OK?
Assuming they are not significantly different from standard (650) then I would assume that they are fine.
My Duron 700 runs at 31 - 42C at 700Mhz (1.60v)
At 933/1000Mhz it goes from 33/34 - 48/49C (1.85v)

This means running your RAM at 133Mhz as opposed to 100Mhz (Host 100 + PCI 33 = 133)

Just try to enable it and see if it improves your performance

I just disabled Prime95, and currently running at 29c, so I think I'm fine on temp. Still can't get more than 950 out of this Proc., but I guess that's a Proc. limitation and nothing else.

How can I complain about 950 stable out of a 650.

Thanks for all the helpful info, I think I will switch my Ram setting to 4-way interleave just to see what happens.

This KT7-Raid will run 112-114 FSB OK, but should I run 100 and swith to HostCLK + PCI CLK ??????????
