Compubuzz has Duron and ECS mother board for $89. You need to delete the Fan or it'll be 101. not too bad price. i might get one of these

Thanks for the head up. It look very cheap.

They don't jack it up on the shipping do they.

How good/overclockable is this motherboard?

I just read tom's page on this mobo. You only want it if you don't intend to OC at all. Won't do 133FSB, no voltage adjustments, etc. Good solution for a tightwad friend.

The latest rev of this MOBO (K7VZA rev 1.3) has the KT133A NB. I have one.

I put in a 1.0 Ghz 200Mhz Tbird (AXIA) and set the jumpers for 133 FSB, booted and posted at 1.33 Ghz.

The BIOS has limited voltage adjustment and no frequency adjustment at 133 FSB.

There is onboard audio and the board is rock stable.

Try CPUFSB to raise the frequency.

I'm happy with 1.33 Ghz. I got the board, the AXIA and a Volcano II for about $220, not much more than a retail 1.33 266Mhz.

I'm confused.
Why does Compubuzz charge $37 for a Duron 700 when you choose the ASUS
and $28 when you choose the ECS ??? Am I missing something ? Here I thought a Duron 700 was a Duron 700 no matter what board you use.

I think this combo is not for the K7VZA as reviewed on Tom's Hardware, but it's for the Micro ATX board, the K7VZM. If you want the K7VZA, it seems to be $111 for the combo, since you need to buy the fan apparently with it, or $99 if the fan isn't required. Then add shipping, which is about $14.

Just wondering if it would be a better idea to go with the FIC AZ11E + a 750MHz Duron from newegg for about $15 more, dunno if that motherboard is worth the extra $15 as opposed to the ECS one.

perhaps a better option for tightwads(that don't want to game) is the asus a7s-vm saw one of these puppies at the Pittsburgh computer show for $92 onboard vid/sound/lan but no agp.
For those that don't know this is the SIS chip with north+south on one chip.
I'm impressed as hell with all this, would make an excellent college student's machine,
could build up a decent system for ~600
if you wanted to deck one out...
92 mobo A7S-VM
36 matx case
50 Duron 850
30 256MB ram
176 HP Trinitron 17?
140 40GB IBM 7200
54 pioneer 16x DVD slot load
120 liteon 16x burnproof drive
15 keyboard
20 mouse
comprable prices avail at most computer shows I'm sure (for instance, saw a slot pioneer 16x for 35)
While not a fan of such computers myself, I do know that some would find such machines quite, useful.

Lucky I have Fry's nearby. Every week, Duron 800 and FIC AZ11 mobo combo for $99 plus tax, so around $108 for name brand board and retail box Duron.

Ummm...was told by a Fry's salesperson just a few weeks ago, who used to be a service tech there, that their 'retail' CPU boxes sometimes underwent unmarked shrink-wrap magic. I have no reason to disbelieve what I heard, so I've set my expectations a bit lower when I shop for a CPU @ Fry's!
