TCWO has the AMD Duron 900 for $38 + $6.95 shipping. If you throw in their $9 heatsink and fan they will give you a 1 year warranty on the processor. Their heatsink and fan are more than sufficient for the 900. So its $44.95 shipped w/o hsf or $53.95 and 1 yr warranty with. On a side note they also have a good deal on the USR Winmodem. $24. If you order it with your new duron the shipping is still only $6.95.

PS-Forgot to mention that the $38 price is for phone orders only. Their website price is $48.

Its from TCWO. I've seen alot of different posts on TCWO on here and they all seem to be pretty positive. Today was my first order with them. I usually stick with Newegg since their startup but they can't beat TCWO price on this stuff. Also, Newegg charges shipping for each individual item and TCWO is $6.95 ground up to 150 lbs.

Price looks to be $48 using the link. I searched around the website, but that's the only price I could find.

Yep... Go to Pricewatch to get their "phone order only" loss leader prices. They're not on the website.

Buy the modem too... I think at those loss leader prices (CPU and freight) they need it!

guys, maybe u would think a rookie but is there such a big difference between the Duron and Athlon like there's between the celeron and Pentiums?(or is the gap for AMDs' pair a lot closer) thanks

Plus is that you buy any of the hsf and they will extend the cpu warranty to a year. Downside to them is they have a poor selection of heatsinks and you have to check pricewatch for their lowest price then call in. Great people to deal with but newegg is still my primary source.

Roughly speaking, a Duron 900 will run somewhere between an Athlon 750 and 800.

Here's a decent chart from tomshardware.com

TCWO is great... but i'm in cali, they're in florida, 6.95 flat shipping is okay, just pay a couple more bux for 3-day! TCWO is pretty good considering NewEgg has tax for me. The phone sales people are pretty knowledgeable and friendly. I think processors are the only thing I've purchased from them...

I'm sure you would have to unlock it yourself.
Newegg is still my primary source also. Its just that this particular time they couldn't beat it. I also know what you mean about the choices of hsf. I just went with the $9 one because this setup will be for my dad.

Newegg is actually only $1 more expensive for the Duron 900 cpu if that's the only item you're going to purchase, because they have free shipping on it right now. Free shipping on various other AMD cpu's as well. And as far as HSF's go, I think I'd rather have the volcano II from Newegg for $8 + $4 shipping than "Heatsink Brand X" for $9 + $0 additional shipping from TCWO, one-year warranty notwithstanding. All Duron multipliers are locked, you'll need something to unlock it with (lead pencil, rear window defogger repair kit, Circuit Write trace pen, etc) and a motherboard that supports multiplier adjustments to overclock it. If your motherboard has a nice set of FSBs to run it at, you might get somewhere that way, but if you've just got 100mhz and 133 mhz I highly doubt you're going to get your Duron 900/100FSB to run at 1200/133FSB, unless you've got some serious overclocking gear, and if that's the case, why are you buying a Duron 900? I've got my Duron 800 running at 1000 quite nicely with a Volcano II.

TCWO is a pretty good company. I have bought several AMD processors (w/ HSF) from them before, and whenever I have had a problem they have replaced the processor no questions, no hassles. It also helps that they are located in Tampa FL, only about 15 minutes from my house (and used to also be on my drive home from work ) so I could just stop by and pick items up, and of course drop them off if I had a problem. So the instant gratification part was great! Plus there was no shipping, but of course there was sales tax.

If any of you live in Tampa, I highly recommend TCWO over BB, and CompUSA for parts (Good quality parts + Instant Gratification). If you don't live in Tampa I still recommend them, if the price is right. The customer service is very good, and flat 6.95 shipping is hard to beat (except for FREE shipping of course).

Just my $0.02

Well, FYI.... You don't have to get the $9 fan for the 1 year warranty. ANY fan purchased from TCWO (I always use the Cooler Master... overkill for a Duron 900, but hey!) and I have the one year warranty. Definitely take THAT into consideration when compared to Newegg's offer of "After 7 days you're SCREWED whether you buy a HSF or not". Not that I have ever killed a CPU, but I've never wrecked a car either, yet I have car insurance.

I have purchased enough parts from TCWO and newEgg (enough for 26 complete computers) to say they are both very reliable and enjoyable to work with. I have only had problems with 1 motherboard from TCWO and their customer support (Jon) was excellent. We flashed the board and works perfectly. I ONLY use these 2 suppliers for all my computer needs and I have a wholesale license! In my experience, if you need it within 3-4 days go with newEgg. But I have no hesitation at ordering from TCWO! Both are excellent companies!
