Duron Power Supply Problem?

I decide to upgrade my case to 300W and a few extra amenities. I also got a new Abit and Duron 800. Well the Abit Duron posted and started windows only after I took out everything except the VGA card and used my win98 backup disk(left out Creative 6X DVD and DX3, live value, ethernet card) I decided to put my old AZ11 and Duron 650 back in with all components and now the system fans and Duron fan start and stop over and over and nothing happens otherwise. Do I have any options other than a defective PS>?
Thanks in advance people, I'm really feeling that I should have left well enough alone!

Maybe your case's power switch is defective. Try unplugging it from the motherboard and using the tip of your screwdriver to momentarilly connect the pins for the power switch instead. If it starts and runs, it's your power switch. Here's hoping...

It is almost embarrassing to admit: I had installed an Abit Socket A and it had mtg holes where the AZ11 did not. I installed the AZ11 without removing the metal standoffs for these mtg holes. I have not tested my system with these removed yet and I am crossing my fingers and hoping I have not done any damage to the system. Mobo's don't work well under those conditions. I had the HS on the Duron but the fan wasn't running. It didn't get hot to the touch but warmed up a bit.
