dv5000 hp cannot reformat or repair using install disk

I have an HP DV5000 laptop. Whenever I try to use the restore disk to repair or reformat it crashes (i am using XP). It crashes at different random times. I thought it was over heating so I reseated the amd chip with silver heat sink compound. I have tried replacing the hard drive, the CD ROM, the ram memory and even the motherbiard. I disconnected the wireless adapter and the bluetooth and still no dice. I still think it is a hardware issue and maybe the replacement parts I used are faulty too.

I bought a motherboard online and I was able to successfully install windows XP but the board didn't have any firewire, bluetooth or sd card reader so I exchange it for the one that is for my computer.

I am not sure if it is the motherboard or some other hardware issue. Please help me figure this out!

Haven't you posted this before?

Get the correct motherboard then try again. Better yet contact Dell and get a new recovery disk. You may have a bad disk.

I have replaced the original motherboard ( p/n# 4313543201 ) with a replacement part #407830-001

I have not been able to find the exact original part. I read online that this is the correct part to use as a replacement. I am simply trying to figure out what part of my laptop needs to be replaced.

Originally I thought my laptop was over heating so I reseated the IC chip & checked the fan. My HP DV5000 laptop crashes during reformat or repair. I have tried replacing the motherboard, harddrive, cdROM and it still does not work. In the middle of either reformating or repairing my computer the computer just turns off. I think it is a hardware problem but I have tried everything I can think of. The computer came with wireless, sd card reader, blue tooth etc. Maybe the replacement parts I used were broken but I dont think so.I have replaced the original motherboard ( p/n# 4313543201 ) with a replacement part #417022-001 Using this part I was able to reformat successfully. However this motherboard did not have a SD car reader or a blue tooth power connection or firewire. (The motherboard was for a dell, mine is HP)

So I exchanged it for used p/n# 407830-001 which (I think) is a correct replacement part. Since the hard drive had been formatted I had XP on my laptop. I however did not have functionality of all my hardware. Using this configuration I tried to do a system repair to get the correct drivers. No dice. I tried reformatting it crashed during formatting and I lost my xp os.

I have tried replacing almost everything (motherboard, cd rom, ram chips, hard drive etc.) I have tried reformatting off the battery alone & the wall adapter alone.

I am simply trying to figure out what part of my laptop needs to be replaced. I believe it may be a faulty replacement motherboard, or a power issue. There is a tiny power distribution PCB board inside the computer where the power adapter plugs in. I think it may be broken but I cannot find anyone selling it. I haven't been able to find anyone else who has complained about it either. PLEASE HELP!

How much money have you dumped into this? Sound like time to cut your losses and get a new laptop.

Actually I have invested $90 on the p/n# 407830-001 motherboard. Everything else I returned since it did not fix the problem I can still return the motherboard as well but I wold like to fix the laptop. It has the best built in sound system and is an overall great computer. Like I said the laptop worked (with another motherboard that had less periferals) and with the correct one ( but only once the OS was already installed) I simply cannot figure out why I cannot reformat with the correct mother board.
