I don't. There's only ONE title that's DVD-Audio that I might consider buying, and that's Linkin Park's remix album, Reanimation, and ONLY because I don't have it on CD.

Good idea, bad implementation *cough* CPPM *cough*?
Sounds like what they're planning for HD-DVD and Bluray with not being able to play back content over an analog connection at full resolution.

Jazz and classical fans are still enjoying the formats. I just picked up a few new ones last week (SACD).

Nope, had a DVD-A/SACD player and sold it. It's nice, but...iTunes & MP3 ftw

Indeed. But for digital fabulous sound we have SACD/DVD-A.

they all sound great compared to a CD. I own no less than 50 hi-rez digital titles. there's tons out there.

-edit-
OP, you are way off base. These are meant and need to be played back over analog connections. remember music/sound is analog.

Oh I know that, I mean raping us in terms of how we can play our sh!t back; then again, there really is no way to get 6 channel PCM over SPDIF.

Either way, the data is stored digitally, so the quality is only as good as your DAC...

So get a good player and enjoy it. Your source is EVERYTHING.

<---hugs 777es.

I'll grant you that the formats never really took off.

I personally like SACD better. I have several titles of both formats but prefer the sound from the SACD. You feel more 'inside' the music instead of just a guy sitting in a room with 6 speakers....if that makes any sense. BTW: My setup is all vintage (mid-late 80's) Polk audio except for the Sub (Polk). Nothing super fancy but better than your average speaker.

Probably people with half decent sound systems will care. If you want LInkin Park on SACD, you're probably not one of those people.

higher resolution playback equipment doesn't make up for bad mastering.

well mastered SACDs are awesome

Definitely recommend picking up reanimation on DVDA. I bought it about 2 years ago and it hasn't left the changer in my TL since I bought it. Anytime I'm trying to show off the sound system that's what I put on. Track 19 kicks major ass.

Since we're kind of on the subject - I can understand how Vinyl *could* have the best-sound out of anything, but doesn't the needle/scratches issue make its advantages moot?

They have a laser system you can buy now... but it's super-expensive.

Not if you take care of your vinyl and have a good needle/table.

lol..... DVDA player (lame Orgazmo reference).

What they need are high resolution MP3's or whatever. Or do they already have them?

i would love to have one, but the record companies won't release anything i'd want to buy on the format. instead, they're turning to formats with LESS resolution. CD's suck enough already.
