No question that SACD/DVD-A when mastered correctly is great. But that only happens on some audiophile type of classical/jazz recordings.

In general, 95%+ of masterings are done like CRAP thus negating any advantage of SACD/DVD-A by a huge margin.


Stick with a great CD player wired to a great external DAC. You'll get improved resolution ("SACD level") and save money from paying for expensive SACDs and their limited, unimpressive, dying catalog collection...

Definitely recommend picking up reanimation on DVDA. I bought it about 2 years ago and it hasn't left the changer in my TL since I bought it. Anytime I'm trying to show off the sound system that's what I put on. Track 19 kicks major ass.

I don't care much for those particular formats, but it would be a good thing for mainstream music to take off at 24/96. Much like downloadable audio today, only compression that supports the higher bit depth/sampling rate.
