I love watching all the extras that come with a DVD release. The best I've seen so far have been the ones that came with the extended editions of LOR and TTT.

Worst I've seen so far have been the ones that came with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. WTF sorry but I don't like reading my extra's.

Bad Boys II was the weirdest one I've seen so far. The move sucked but the extra's weren't half bad.

So which DVD's out there have good extra's / bad extra's in your experience?

I've seen so many that I couldn't tell ya but two of my favorite individual extras are:

1) How they did the bullet-time in The Matrix
2) The making of the opening scene in Contact

Finding Nemo has the best commentary, ever. It's an audio/visual commentary that cuts out of the movie to show segments that the directors/writers just talked about. I find it very appealing because it includes deleted scenes/behind-the-scenes/tests that the people in the commentary would have talked about anyway. Why not show it right then and there instead of force people to go to Disc 2? What's even better is their preparedness and their eagerness to not do a dull commentary; they even make fun of dull commentaries at one point.

Star Wars Episode I and Episode II have the best behind-the-scenes documentaries. I was more impressed with the Digital Character documentary on Episode II than I was with the Gollum documentary on The Two Towers, and that's saying a lot.

For film music fans (like myself), the isolated scores/commentaries for Pee Wee's Big Adventure by Danny Elfman and Pleasantville by Randy Newman are very interesting to listen to.

The worst extras have to be on disc 2 of the Lion King DVD. It's like one big commercial for every single Lion King-based product that Disney has ever produced, including the Lion King itself!

The most stupid "special features" I've seen are on Momento. The movie is awesome. But the features require to take some sort of test, and based on your answers you get to a certain feature... the only problem is that there is NO way of telling how to get to what feature, so many of the features are clearly overlooked. I understand that it goes with the movie, but it's just STUPID.

Worst:
Bill & Ted's Ex... Only has the trailer

Best:
Knight's Tale... the deleted scenes should have been left in the movie!

Some other movies with good commentary tracks:
El Mariachi
The Mummy
Free Enterprise

Also that one deleted scene from Jaws. I guess it was so funny they had to take it out. Plus it had nothing to do with the movie.

im not a huge fan of extra's, but i enjoy robert rodriguez's commentaries and extras. like on the 'once upon a time in mexico', where he takes the viewer on a tour of Troublemaker Studios and shows how he edits, adds effects, and how he created and composed the score for the movie.

Man on the Moon. All the real footage of Andy Kaufman. Still one of my favorite "Bio" movies.

Extras are the work of the devil...

UNLESS they are put on a separate disc unto themselves.

All I want is a high quality anamorphic transfer + trailer, DD & DTS audio. I would even say ditch the Dolby, 'cept too many people don't have DTS decoders.

I'm one of them, unfortunate for you. I'd like DTS, but I have a Yamaha receiver that, while still an older model, has some sweet features and a sweet look that I don't need to give up anytime soon.

anxi80 is right about Robert Rodriguez. I forgot about his awesome commentary on Spy Kids 2. That guy is a filmmaking genius in EVERY department!
