I'm trying to use my new Pioneer DVD-104 drive and have been mostly successful. I am trying to back-up dvd movies. But I have encountered the following annoying problem. I burn with Nero 5.9 on the proper settings but sometimes the program gives a SCSI/IDE error and locks up at 6-12 seconds into the burn (during the lead-in). The program then sits there for about 120 seconds. Then the time jumps from about 6 seconds to about 126 seconds, gives the error pop-up and stops.
I have made several succesful back-ups which work perfectly in my stand-alone player, so I don't believe it is the Nero settings, file structures, or such that is the problem. Just about 1 in 3 burns stops with an error. Now, I will admit that I am using cheaper media (dvdpro brand 1X). But I was under the impression that it should fully burn the dvd, just that it wouldn't play well afterwards.
I am going to try a different brand of media (Princo and Optodisc) to see if this helps. Any suggestions on a type of dvd media you like?
Would appreciate any thoughts anyone has.
My system:
Windows XP Pro
Iwill kk266 MB / 512 MB pc133
AMD 1.4/266 @ 1.4
Pioneer dvd-104
MSI Geforce3 ti 200
Sony dvd 16X dvd-rom
TDK VeloCD 24X
Not using Via 4in1s (they don't seem to work in my machine), but using ide miniport driver, and an aspi layer
Thanks....
