light scribe? like, it's novel and all, but ultimately useless. Permanent marker FTW
litescribe is slow and the media is expensive. The nec is a good one and plextor is only worth it if you burn 2-3 cd's a day. I considered one (716a) and decided that the $100 could be better spent by getting the nec and an extra gb of RAM. Permenant marker is fine or you can uses labels, that's what I sometimes do... like $1 for a 10pack.
not expensive when you consider what Lightscribe does. I had a Lightscribe drive, and I have a Canon ip4000, full color printed cd/dvd's look great, but lightscribe disc's look far better. The newer generation media prints a bit quicker, I think about 8 minutes less on HQ settings. I get the dvd's for 20 bucks for 30, not exactly cheap, but printable media + some sort of enamel spray to keep the color label from running with so much as a drop of water. That's a lot of hassle, plus doesn't end up being much cheaper when you factor in the ink usage and time involved. I'll choose my Lightscribe 8 times out of 10.
