i'm sure this is a repost as the deal has been around for at least 6 months and I remember the below response before:

I thought about signing up for this deal which is really like $91 for a dvd player and 3 months of internet access but i realized i could just use their 2 months for $1 deal saving $44 and buy a dvd player elsewhere and save $25 on their shipping to yield a $69 savings and put that towards a dvd player i wanted. not a bad deal though if you already use earthlink, don't mind switching email addys, and can get around the new customer rule.

Just a heads up..............I just got off the phone with Earthlink and they told me it was a 6 month commitment to get the DVD @ 21.95/month plus the 24.95 shipping/handling (grand total = $156.65).

But if you're paying $21.95 monthly for internet anyway, might as well get something useful. I had great service with Earthlink before I got Cable. AOL isnt giving anything away.....except for a free month when you sign up.

Just tried to sign up for DSL @ either 21.95/mo or 3 months for price of one + the free DVD player... Service rep said could not combine the two promotions.... And FYI anyone who has verizon as their regular carrier will only get 768 downloads, NOT 1.5.... Verizon sets em up that way... Anyone know how to get both deals ??

I've been with earthlink for a couple of years now. Whenever they send me one of these promotions I call in and they send me the item and add a 3 month commitment to my account. I got the webcam and the digital camera this way. I never had to change email addresses or pay a higher price for the service. I haven't tried to get the DVD yet, maybe I'll call today (and just spend the rest of my day on hold!)

I also inquired about getting in on two of the promos at once. I didn't know about the "3 months for the price of one deal". Regardless, the rep said they had no way to combine two different promos. I think I am gonna go with 3 months for $49.95 (Save $100). Then, if I want, I can buy a ~$100 DVD player and I'll know what specs I am getting (rather than HOPING that Earthlink sends me something good). Since the DVD promotion doesn't end until April 30, I may try WingsOverVirginia's advice and call in a couple of months and see if they will send me the DVD player and tack on 3 months to my commitment....

Hey kbrock, could you (or someone else, I suppose) post a higher res version of the offer that we could read.

Back on the digital camera deal, they had a web site they sent you to in order to redeem the offer, and it also had the terms of the deal.

Anyway, the picture, the link, or the offer code, whichever is easier.

Thanks

I have been using Time Warner's Road Runner for 6 months. Their service is very good. No outages except for scheduled repairs that they post on their home page. I also have their digital cable. I got a deal where I gave them my old satellite for a $100 check and 12 months of digital internet and cable for $69.95 a month. Not bad considering I paid $20 for the old dish. After the 12 months the rates will raise $20. I am hoping things calm down and prices change by then. I guess the only issue I had with them was waiting on the installer. The installers are contracted and over worked so be patient.

Has anyone had any luck getting this w/ their cable modem service? I have Road Runner and was going to switch to Earthlink but the CSR wouldn't budge on any promotions for their cable modem.

A few weeks ago I called and told them to tack on 3 months to my existing DSL account and send me the DVD Player. (I don't even own any DVDs) They said sure and mailed it out to me. Then my DSL privs were revoked and I was out of internet service for a week while they tried to figure out how the CS rep screwed it up.

I bought a DVD and it is pretty nice.....to me. The brand is MV WAve but it does have a digital out although I haven't tried to hook anything up the jack.....looks like it may not be connected internally.

Hey techtechtech,
I had Earthlink (Mindspring) twice. It was O.K. until they sent me an email telling me they are "changing my access tel # to improve service". Well things got awful. So I dropped the service. I was new at this and didn't realize the problem was the tel#. Now here's where it gets interesting.
Down the road, long after they merged with Earthlink I go back to them ( was on NetZero for a while). After a few months with Earthlink they send me an email changing my access #. Then things get real bad. I was getting real frustrated. Well I just happen to be into printing and saving things, so I go looking in my file and find that both times ( as Mindspring & Earthlink ) that email changed my acces # to "the same phone #. I think that perhaps based on my usage (lots of music downloads) they were dumping me to a lousy line. It was odd that after 18 months and a merge they dumped me to the SAME tel #. When I discovered that, I called and asked for another tel #. Well everything was fine again.

Now I used MSN (because of the XP 3mos free deal) and love it. Especially because when I signed up they gave me about five acess #s . No nonsense . Tel #s don't seem to be rationed at MSN.
