Also even if these things have errors are people still burning these flawlessly

When I first got my burner, I was using Nero 5.5. It burned with no problems, but there were some stand alone players that gave pixelation and some freezing. After updating Nero, I've never run into a player that would not play my disks.

I just got 100 that I ordered last Friday. I burned a full disk with my lite-on 811s and Nero 6 at 4x with no problems. DVD info could not find any errors. The disk are the Yi Jhan 001 and a ~10% have the blurred dye.

Same here. I knew better though getting 50 for under 20 bucks had it's risks. It almost looks like some of them have whiteout stuck to them and thumbprints on a few.

I finally watched a full movie which i had burned at 4x on these. Initially, it appeared perfect, but by mid-movie the dvd was jumping all over the place...skipping parts of scenes and what not.

Has anyone else seen this with these discs?

Do you think it's the encoding or is it more likely burning at 4x when i should be burned at 2x or 1x?

Thanks

i recently made abackup of matrix revolutions.. using ic8.. burned using dvd decrypter. using these discs.. burned it at 4x.. played it on my standalone terapin dvd player.. worked/played flawlessly to the very end.. no skips, hiccups, etc..

ur problem could be ur standalone reader just doesnt read media good.. or it could be ur burner.. try burning at slower speed.. that may help u out.. u have to find the combination of discs/burn speeds the player ur going to be playing it at likes..

Exactly, I have found some older generic (and a couple newer for that matter) have serious issues reading any kind of -/+ R media, but will play the real thing with no problems. I would try a different player, that should take care of it.

I had the same problem. Checked the DVD out with Nero CD Speed's scan function and sure enough the DVD had bad blocks towards the end. Re-burned at 2X and everythings fine. Found that my Pioneer 105A can burn these at 4X (most of the time) and that my Lite-On 811s only at 2X. With cheap media like this it is highly recommended to turn on Nero's "validate" function just to be sure you have a good burn before returning those movies to Blockbuster

I used Matrix Revolutions as a test DVD - ripping/shrinking with DVDShrink and then Nero Express for the burn.

Good strategy would be to burn movies first to see what speed burns best, then data after u have the right combos.

thanks for the info about using DVDinfoPRO. I just downloaded it. Do i have to have the original shinked files on the pc to check to see if there are any errors? I wanted to check some dvd+r discs that i put backed-up movies on and not sure how to check them to see if there are any errors since i've already deleted the original shrinked files on the pc. thanks

edit: ok, i think i figured out how to check the dvd+r for errors by using the program. I guess you don't have to compare the dvd+r to the shrinked files on the pc. But why would you want to compare them anyway? I use dvdshrink/nero to do my burns.

edit: i tried to check errors on a dvd+rw disc that has data and the program wouldn't let me select my dvd drive burner. Does anyone know if this program will/will not work to check errors on this kind of disc?

I bought a 50 pack of these a couple of weeks ago. I've burned about 15 of them (Longten 001) with zero problems.

My setup: NEC 1300A, official firmware 1.08
DVD Shrink 3.1.4
Nero 5.5.10.54

After several more burns, I take back what I said before about this media. IT IS PURE CRAP! (at least the Yi Jhan brand) Save yourself the trouble and buy Ritek or some other quality media.

I got the plain white topped discs. Total crap. Would only burn at 1x and even then all discs are coasters. Burned using a Lite-on 411S and Nero.

I don't know. I can't get a clean burn on my nec1300A either. I've got the LONGTEN discs

The deal? I'd say that the deal is that these are crappy discs. They apparantly work for some people, but with such a high failure rate, I just don't think that the low-cost outweighs the risk.

I just wish I had been reading the FW forums about these discs instead of AT. On FW people were verifying and error checking from the first day the thread was posted over there. Here on AT people were championing these discs without ever testing their burns.

Mine only checked out to $33.30, not bad for 100pk, if they work great, if they don't, oh well!

wen u mention testing burns? u mean using that program to verify the disc and check for error?

my method of "testing" my burns is playing them on MY DVD PLAYERS and PS2.. and if they work perfectly with no skips or hiccups.. then its good..

Get IMG Tool Classic and make ISO's out of your VIDEO_TS folders and then burn with DVD Decrypter. I will not use Nero to burn any DVD's anymore. I use RecordNow or Gear Pro now and I've never had a problem, unlike when I used Nero exclusively. Now I know some of you are going to say you've never had a problem with Nero, Great use it, But those of you that have had try this and see if it helps.
