whats the difference between the sonic dvd-r 4.7 1x-4x bulk compare to the sonic DVD-R 1x-2x (no stacking ring).. beside the thermal printable and speed... is it different quality??? what is it.. ??

1-2x always burn at 4x, the 4x = 8x? who knows, but I'll find out soon!
use coupon bens10, thought it can only be used once per type of media.
so lets say you bought 1-2x sonic 100pk, then try it again next week. it will just say invalid coupon code ^_^ so when you buy with this particular coupon, buy as many as you can to save big! I know that shop4tech is certainly making a killing the more you buy but heck they'll the best and cheapest dvd-r company I've used before...

ditto here. I have used over 300 of these discs with maybe 10 coasters total. Of those I know at least 5 were my fault

I got the sonic 1-4x for $22.80. Received today and I was able to get 8x with my NEC 2500A with herrie firmware.!

Somepeople say a dvdr with not so reliable media code may stop playing or start skipping within the future as compared to something like ricoh disk with are highly thought as very good quality. I've used optimum dvd-rs(cmc mag) with like 2 out of 10 would not burn(i/o error), the others burned well and passed media scan in dvdinfopro. I burnt those about 8 months ago and just did a media scan on a few of those today and they all passed.

So has anyone who has burned a cheap quality dvdr run into a disc that was sucessfully burned and media scanned 6-8 months or more back have that dvdr not pass a media scan, stop playing, or skipping today?

I was debating to get 100 pack or ricoh for $49shipped or a 100 of these. I instead got the 50 pack for about $12 shipped to try some.

YMMV. after using 120 dvds, i ended up throwing the other 80 away out of disgust. most of the 120 dvds no longer work. (PI = 1500, PIO = 100)

on another note, ritek dvds are MUCH better and are MUCH more dependable (PI = 100, PIO = 5)

I finally finished my 100 pack of these crap DVD's. I'm sure that I ended up throwing away at least 20 disks due to validation and scan errors. Most of the rest I gave away to friends and family. Most have since complained that they couldn't play the movies I burned on them - I suggested they buy a newer DVD player for around $50 bucks from Apex or Phillips (What? and give up my 3 year old Hitachi that I paid over $300 for? LOL). I finally downloaded KProbe and tested several of these Sonic DVD's and some other brands I've burned with my Pioneer 105 and Lite-On 811s. Here's what I found -

Ricoh +R - Excellent
Ritek -R - Good to Excellent
Maxell -R - Good
Extreme -R - Partly Crap
Sonic -R - Pure Crap (at least the Yi Jhan ones)

some people have problems because media incompatibility.
They all work great for me, I only found 1 out of 100 that is bad!
