Everyone is saying that these burn fine, but only a few mentioned playback and re-ripping. For all of those people who burned fine with these, please let us know whether the data can be re-retrieved. Thanks

I'm checking on it right now. I'll let you know. If I understand what you're asking is the media able to do a direct copy to copy off of a burned disc to another?

Right?

I didn't test every single disc but I have audited quite a few and none had problems. Not even those burned at 8x. I tested every one of the first 10 I made. After that it was just sort of pointless to keep testing every one as they had been giving me no problems. So I would just check if I made speed adjustments or check every 1 of 3. I've tested them in many different DVD players (Toshiba, Pioneer, JVC, Sony, Zenith to name a few).

With so many positive reviews and the low cost...how can you really go wrong?

yeah, what i meant was that anyone can burn a disc without errors. I've burned Ritek/Ricoh's that went smooth, but when put into the dvd player, the movie skips. It is a rare thing with the Ritek's, but it does happen. However, is this frequent with these discs? And further, can these movies be re-read (not necessarily played back) in a dvd-rom drive? Finally, if data is burned to the disc, is it often retrievable?
the answers for these questions should be that the disc performs fine, but sometimes one can't tell. I'd hate to burn some important data, or home movies that will later have the source destroyed, if 2 weeks after burning, the disc is a garbled mess.

Retrieval of data problems? I never knew this was a problem with DVD discs or for any discs for that matter. I'd be interested in hearing more about this if it's something common.

I'm new to the DVD burning scene, so I don't know much. What I read is that your problem seems to be the quality burns for your dvd media. If the quality is poor, DVD players have a hard time reading them. That's all I can guess from what you wrote and my limited knowledge.

Here's where I'm basing this on cd freaks review

But what is a good scan? That is a discussion that we don?t think will end soon as different drives reports different amount of errors, some players is more picky about media than others and so on.

hope that helps. I'd be interested if you knew more.

Can somebody send me a few of these discs (3 or 4 is fine) so I can test them with my burner/dvd player?
I'll cover the cost of the discs, shipping, and your time. Waiting for your PM's...

Thanks,
David

I bought 100 of these. Using a Pioneer 106 DVD writer, I have had mixed results. The first three I burnt at 4x all played perfectly. The fourth one was bad, would lock up the DVD player at about the one hour mark. Locked up in same spot on three different settop players. Tried to reburn the files (still on my hard drive), and got a write failure from RecordNowDX. Tried again at 2x, and was successful at burning and playing back on settop player.

If you buy these, make sure you test the disks after you burn them.

I have made copies of about 90% of these that I have burnt, with zero issue. They re-rip better than the Ritek media that I have used.

for the NEC ND-1300A, you'll need firmware 1.08 or later to burn these at the full 4x

I wouldn't buy from them since their top cover is easy to be damaged. The one from shop4tech is much better

Well, I just tried to click on those links and the server is dead. Also, Why worry about 5 to 10 bucks, when everyone who has tried these from shop4tech know they work?????
