I've got the Yi Jhan 001's and I've burned a few of them on my NEC ND-1300A with Herrie's Firmware 1.07v4

The first couple of discs burned fine at 4X and played back fine in my Cyberhome DVD player, but checking them on DVDInfoPro turned up MANY read errors... Over 100 per disc.

A third disc I have just burned at 2X and tested with DVDInfoPro. It came away with 36 read errors. Much better than the 4x discs.

All in all, these are cheap discs, you're getting what you pay for. If you need some cheap throwaway discs to pass out to friends or use for short-term uses, then these are great. Perfect for the test-burn if you're not quite sure its gonna work and don't want to risk a Ritek.

If you're looking for an archival disc, something to keep and make future copies from, DO NOT USE THESE DISCS.

Great for its purpose. Just don't expect Filet Mignon at Ground Chuck prices.

After a bit of a closer look and a rescanning of my discs with DVDInfoPro, I've come up with the following results, based on 4 burned discs, all Yu Jhan 001, done on a Nec ND-1300A.

Discs burned at 4X: 1000 - 1200 Read Errors per disc
Discs burned at 2X: 30 - 90 Read Errors per disc

Two of these discs (one 2x and one 4x) were burned from the identical source.
The moral of this story is that these discs will burn at 4X+ rates, but if you really care about the longevity of your data and want to give these discs the best chance at lasting, take the extra time and burn them at slower speeds... 1X if you can.

All of these discs played back fine on my dvd player, even the ones with 1000+ read errors, so they all will work, at least in the short term. But I think that giving them an extra 15 minutes of burn time is not too large a sacrifice for more long lived discs.

Just my 2 cents.

I've noticed that most of the disk errors occur at the end of the disks (Yi Jhan 001's). I always use the full disk to burn movies and only part of the disk when burning data. Burning movies at 1X reduces the number of bad blocks down to a managable number for movies (3 - 5 single bad blocks spreadout over the end of the disk) most of the time. Most DVD players can handle single bad blocks but may choke if they encounter a whole string of bad blocks. I've found that burning at 4X or even 2X often results in a string of bad blocks - per Nero CD Speed's surface scan test. Also, I think they secretly put a few good disks at the top of the stack just to fool you into thinking this media is decent. It's NOT GOOD MEDIA, IT's PURE CRAP. Even a few bad blocks will result in a DVD that you can't copy.

I've had similar results with my Longten spindle. Burning with Dvd Shrink(Nero) 4x=1000+ errors, 2x=60-200 errors. Nero, Roxio, nor DVD shrink(Nero) wouldburn these at 1x.So far I'veburned 10 Nero 6 created Iso fileswithDvd decryptor at 1x.8 w/0 errors, &1each with1 &2 errors reading from the same drive.( BTC1004, fw50, DMA enabled, Win2000).

This is true. In my 4X burns with 1200 read errors, half of them come in the last 10% of the scan, with the rest spread out over the rest of the burn. Large blocks of errors occur at the end of the discs.

Just got my 100pk today. It's LONGTEN001. How lucky. Just tried one burn. No read error. Plays on stand alone DVD player. Randomly pick a DVD-R, still a LONGTEN001.

EDIT: I burn at 6X with NEC ND-2500A

I just got my 100-pk in. I went thru the stack and there were 11 of them with visible potential flaws. I was pretty picky when looking for the flawed disks and suspect 2-3 might work okay. 10% flawed disk rate is pretty horrible but $34 counter-balances it a bit. Won't get to burn anything until tomorrow nite though.

The couple of mine that had visible dye flaws burned fine without any errors.

Why do you guys got so many bad DVD-R?? I checked all mine. The last from bottom one are scratch a little. 2 or 3 has little scratch, useable. I'm satisfied with them. Burn few more of them and no read error.

By "no read error" do you mean that you've scanned the discs with DVDInfoPro and gotten no errors, or that the disk seems to play fine in a DVD player?

The discs generally seem to burn fine at all speeds, but if you burn them faster than 1X, you get read errors when you scan them. These errors are usually skipped over well by DVD players, but if you try to make a copy of the disc later, you will probably run into errors.

These generally play fine when burned at most speeds, but the faster you burn them, the more errors you create, so burn 'em slow. And don't use these for archiving anything you want to keep long-term and make copies of.

I've checked (with dvdinfo pro) and haven't had any errors either. Also burning with an NEC 2500A @ 4x.

yvleiw, how do you get 6X? I'm using Nero 6 and it will only give me a choice of 4, 2 or 1.

DVD Info shows 500+ errors on the disc I burned last week and zero-errors on the one I just burned. Both were burned at 2x on an NEC 1300A with Nero. Both passed Nero's verification.

These discs are a huge YMMV IMO and at < 20% success rate, my vote is still a thumbs-down, but I just wanted to let people know that apparantly I did get at least one good disc.

I got 50 of yijhan 001 disks. I just saw one of them don't have any media id. Read errors at 98% but
it played fine though. Burnt 10 so far with NEC 2500A and no coasters.

If they do, they won't be because of the media. I have used 9 different burners now with this media, and like I said in previous posts, made 3 errors, none due to the media. I have had just as good of luck with this media, than I have had with Ritek. Other people have had really good luck with this also. Hell, even a couple who bitched at first on here, have now gotten their issues resolved, and are having no issues with this media. Kind of makes one wonder what the actual issue is...........
