codes are dead.......... and unless you were wanting to buy 1000 of them, the 10% wouldn't be enough to worry about anyway..............

Got the replacement shipment for the YiJahns and these ones are longten001. They have a white star near the center of the disc.

Burned one and verify failed, so I ran a read-error test in dvdinfopro. Hundreds of blocks with errors.

Then I decided to throw it in another drive and run the test again. Hundreds of errors again, but in different blocks! Running the test in a third drive yielded a third set of errors.

I'm playing it in a standalone dvd player now and so far, it looks fine.

I'm curious if anyone knows about how much error-tolerance there is in recordable dvds and how they work. On a hard drive or cd-r, I expect a bad block to always be a bad block, but the three read-error tests I ran seem to say that's not the case for dvds.

I finally got to test my disks. They're Longten001 disks and work great on my old Pioneer105. My disks also have a little white star near the center.

So far, both of my burns have worked great in our DVDRP91 player. I've not yet tested the 11 of my 100 that had visible flaws. We'll see how they do later.

After my last successful burn I decided I might actually use the 50 discs I bought. Burned another one today with only about 3.5 gig and this one failed verification and showed up with 12 errors using DVDInfoPro. Far fewer than the previous discs out of this spindle, but still enough that I burned a 2nd copy of my stuff onto a Ritek. Some of these work for me, some don't

Okay, after being somewhat encouraged that the disc I burned played all the way through, I took another step and tried backing that disc up. Complete failure. Tried doing it by copying (unencrypted files of course), using dvdshrink, dvddecrypter, smartripper...everything failed with read error messages.

That's it for me, I'm moving on to the next thing...

Tried them on my Panasonic DMR-E60 and out of several tries they bombed out and quit burning, It said "bad disc" but when I tried them on my Panasonic DMR-E30 they worked fine. Go Figure!

I was in the same pull b4 I bought em,
When I got em about 10 had visible dye spots missing, so I chose the nicest looking one to burn the above posted.... I think it really depends on which part of the stack they mail you, I may just get em 'replaced' if possible to try the yi jangs on my nc1300a.

Sounds like people are getting screwed here with defective products. My 50 pack is on its way. So what are you going to do about it? Legally, the company owes you to ship a product to you that is free from defects, and if they don't, you do not have to ship it back unless they pay for shipping or pick it up. Who has called and asked for an exchange? Did they balk at picking up the cost for return shipping? - Lots of people here will want to know.

I guess I will listen to you guys for a few min before I choose to buy these. Most of the reviews with people with the NEC2500 work fine. Maybe I will see how it goes when my friend gets his. The feedback here will fuel my decision.

FOR you guys with the Yu Jhans. How are these working with your burners? 1300a? Also are they playing fine even though you get like 100-500 read errors

B4 I ask for the rma I'll finish building a pc and use 80-pin connectors for the drives n burners to see if there's a diff. I still however have no use for the flawed-dye ones though.

Has anyone tested discs burned with a NEC nd 2500a drive in another dvd drive? Discs burned at 1x by my BTC1004 show 0-2 errors in the BTC. However, when read by my ancient Pioneer dvdrom drive, there's hundreds of errors and a lot of skips at towards the end in my Toshiba player.

I tested some that were burned on a Pioneer 105 and they all came back clear of any errors. The few that I burned and tested on the NEC 1300a comes back with anywhere from 5-1400 errors.

alright, 17 bux for 50 dvd's I took the bait.. I figure I'll use them mostly for xbox games which do not usually go over 2-3GB so hopefully I'll avoid all the errors you all are seeing on the outer edge of the discs

btw I'm linux-only and prefer k3b as my burning app, anyone else try these in linux ? I'm sure it'll be fine.. also does anyone know a linux tool which will show me the read error counts etc. you guys are posting

I think the 50pk are Yi Jhan 001's while the 100pk are Longten001, can anyone confirm this also? So far I got 50pk of Yi Jhan and 100pk of Longten, the Yi Jhan have a cleaner smoother white surface but burns horrible, while the Longten white surface is a bit rough and has a star near the center of the disc. Half of the Yi Jhan is coasters, and 95% of the Longten read fine with my 411s@811s they both burn at 4x but the Yi Jhan took 5-10 reads before I can burn the disc because the drive doesn't recognize the disc. The sure way to know if it reads well is to put the disc in and read the info with DvdinfoPro or DVD Identifier, after they read Yi Jhan and 4x then burn respectively. After you burning use DvdinfoPro to read the disc and check for errors. DVD players seem to disregard the read errors sometimes, even if the dvdrom picks up read errors the disc can still play fine on any stand alone DVD player

I burned 15 yi jhans so far on NEC 2500A . Only two has read errors at the end . They all play fine
on my stand alones. I don't understand why everybody worries about read errors if they play fine on
standalones. For this price these are pretty good. Don't put any important data on them just movies or
games will be OK.
