Yep stay away from those. CMC is not that bad.... though I prefer Taiyo Yuden.... more expensive but burns extremely well. You get what you pay for with Taiyo Yuden

So its a no go on the INTERAXIA? Or just generally skip anything less well known. I've never heard of this name before.

basically, there is so much variability with media, most people prefer to not waste their time and money on questionable media for long-term backup, when the difference in price being even $10-20, I'd rather not get fcked, I'll just spend the extra for something everyone knows to be good/great. These media are not worth thinking too much about because there are so many different kinds available and so much variation between them, and not really a quick way to see which kind is the best. The best you can do to sort out good from bad media is to go to cdfreaks.com and try to go through their forums with pi/pio tests. That will take you a lifetime unless you just pick a good media and buy the shit.

IF CMC Magnetics DVDs are anything like their CDs, not a soul on the planet should touch them.

Yeah, I've had really good luck with the Compusa ones. I picked up 300 on black friday and haven't had any coasters yet.

I just bought a 100 pack of Ritek G05 from Newegg. Get this, my burner (Sony DRU 510A) will not burn them! I've burned about 6 coasters, did some research and found a compatibility issue between certain Sony drives and Ritek media. Who would have known? To sell them or keep em till I upgrade my burner?

I would recommed you stay away from TechGeek.com.
I ordered from them on 2 occasions. All my discs would have problems towards the end. Plus, they send you whatever they have avaialble. My last batch was Interaxia, CMC and some other brand. When I complained about what was shipped VS. what their site said I was buying, they said to send them back on my dime.

I recently bought (4) 50pk of the Staples media when they were offered for $4.99 each pk. I've burned about 10 with no coasters and no errors anywhere. I'll stick with my Staples DVD's VS. Techgeek.com DVD's anytime!!!

silvertop = naked dvd, they are a plain and uses minimum coating that are easily scratched
most burners don't like them and will most likely coaster at 50-75 percent of burning completion.
