Dvd +R

Is it possible to write audio files to a Dvd +R? Was wondering if it's possible to back up a portion of my mp3 library on disk? CDr/rw too small.

you can put any kind of files you want on to a dvd-r, they write just like cd's only bigger.

Wounderful I have 4.1 gigs of audio i need to put on one. Thanks! Any steps to maintain quality I need to be mindful of before I write? Do the files loose quality once burned?

They'd better not. The only way data is lost when written to a disc is if the disc itself starts to go bad, like if the dye layer starts peeling away. Then you lose data, whether it be programs or audio.
As far as the disc is concerned, it's just binary data - music, pictures, video, text. It's all the same stuff.

DVD-/+Rs are perfect for backing up small portions of mp3 collections...or in your case, your entire mp3 collection

I think he might mean he wants to create DVD-audio discs? That's the only way you would introduce any sort of incompatability or loss (none).

I tried to burn my 4.1g to the dvd +r but the programs I was using didn't recognize the full capacity of the disk. Nero and windows media player only allowed for 80min and 700mb of space on a 6hr 4.7g disk. Any suggestions?

Which version of NERO are you using? Are you making sure to select DVD from the drop-down list? It uses CD as default?

He Might be trying to create a DVD-Audio disc which is quite different. I am not sure Nero will even let him do that.

The version of Nero I am unsure about. It didnt occour to me to select the DvD option. I'll try that. Thanks !!
