DVD Shrink....enough said.

It's not too hard at all to use, I think you can figure it out on your own, very easy and very fast to create some image files on your PC, then just load the image files with some software like Daemon Tools (free download).

Isnt this illegal? In any case, this really shouldnt be your research area. If you look harder with any search engine, you should find a plethora of solutions to your task... And that wouldnt get anyone else in trouble too...

As long as this is for backup purposes there is nothing wrong with using DVD Shrink on a personal level. Just don't go sharing them all around the web. I use DVD shrink for my laptop and vacations to save on battery life and to not have the worry of scratching or losing the DVD on a trip.

DVD Shrink doesn't convert from DVD to XviD or DivX, it merely rips the DVD.

Bumpage for answers for the OP.

However much I agree with you, decrypting the DVD for any purpose has never really found a legal niche. The courts are still mostly out on that... And BELIEVE me, I agree with you... Wink wink nudge nudge...

Nero Recode i believe allows you to save DVDs to multiple files types. Although you may need to use DVD Decrypter first.

I've heard excellent things about Fairuse Wizard for converting DVD to Divx. I'm not sure how it handles episode DVDs, but you could DVD Shrink to rip each episode (ie, title) to your hard drive and then use Fairuse to convert.

Hey a$$master, if you read the OP he doesn't mention the DivX part of it.

The information given was perfectly fine, like I said use DVD Shrink, then just add Dr. DivX for your decoding process.

enough said....and done.

Dude Thundercats rule. Haha.

DVD Shrink will give you the option to make a dvd .iso, which I use for completely legal backups of DVD's. I'm not sure how you can get each individual track converted to an .avi.

I rip all my DVD's to a backup server in my house (my xbox games too) then when I want to watch a movie or play a game I stream it to the xbox over the lan. Works great, no searching my huge library for disks or getting up off the couch. I rip to divx with a bash script I found that uses a few different command line tools on linux. When I get home if I remember I'll post the script.

me too.. i have a server sitting off to the side just for video storage. no more fooling around w/DVDs and having my 2yr old use them to sweep the floor.

I use Fair use wizard. it's fantastic. never tried it on episodic DVDs though.. but in advanced mode, you can select which stream to encode.

you can d/l a trial version - which is good enough for most people, on their site. this limits you to <=700mb file.

the pay version is well worth it - only 10 Euros(last time i checked). this lets you encode to whatever file size you want.

You're able to successfully play your XBox games that are on another computer? Wow, what kind of hard drive do you have in that server? I never knew that was possible.

LOL, take a chill pill!

I normally wouldn't even reply to this, but i don't appreciate being called names.

BTW, you say he didn't say anything about DivX/XviD, right? True, but he did mention this:

I'd say that makes it rather clear that he doesn't want .VOBs like Shrink gives
Try a little reading comprehension next time before throwing a fit
