DVD-ROM cant play DVDs (possibly after installing TV tuner?)

I recently installed a TV Tuner (Leadtek TVXP Deluxe), about a month ago, but I'm not sure how long this DVD problem has been going on (about that long). If I put a DVD in there, it no longer automatically opens a program I use called PowerDVD. If I open up PowerDVD and click play, I get an error (An internal error has occurred. Error Code: 890100F) and can't play the DVD. Also, I get an error in realplayer and windows media player. I tried trouble shooting with WMP help, it told me about how 2 interlacing video feeds don't mix well (TV tuner + DVD), but DVDs still wont play if I turn off the TV tuner software. How can this problem be remedied? Thanks

Uninstall all the TV tuner stuff and remove the card, then uninstall PowerDVD and reinstall it and that should prove if the TV tuner is the problem...

Well if you want to be thorough about diagnosing the problem. Uninstalling the TV tuner software and drivers might be sufficient if you're really reluctant to opne the case.

The Leadtek software includes an MPEG2 encoder/decoder for recording/playing shows, and that has probably screwed up your DVD player. Reinstall the DVD player, and you'll be fine.

Ok, all I had to do was reinstall PowerDVD for it to start playing DVDs again. But now my TV Tuner software wont open right, nothing happens after the splash screen....

Do yourself a favor and forget about the Leadtek software. Unless you absolutely need crappy MPEG1/2 captures, use VirtualVCR for capping, and Dscaler for viewing. The only reason to install the program is to get audio if you're using a Cable TV input and need to use the loopback cable. Otherwise, try the BTWincap drivers.

You can forget about using DScaler for tuning; it doesn't support stereo sound on the Leadtek.

Alright, now here's the deal....

All I had to do was reinstall PowerDVD for the DVD player to start working again. Now the TV tuner isnt working. All the cables are plugged in right, but the Winfast Wizard software (that now opens correctly) wont show anything but static and color distortion on all the channels that I could watch fine before. I even tried scanning for channels again using a multitude of formats protocals (including USA IRC, the protocal that all my channels scanned in fine before) Also, I downloaded DScaler and it says there is no video input. What the bejesus.

Sorry...I really can't help you, but...

There may be something inherently wrong with the TV tuner cards and interference with cd players:

If I am watching TV and then open my DVD drive tray, insert a CD, and then close the tray...while the DVD player is reading the CD the sound on my tuner application goes bezerk. The volume goes down, and it becomes distorted and gibberish.

Not sure if anyone else has this problem? It doesn't bother me too much, as I rarely open/close my DVD drive while watching TV, but neverthless it may point to some problem of the TV tuner card.

See my sig for detailed info on my Liteon DVD drive, sound card, etc...
