I need some tips on dvd-rom & CD-RW

DVD-ROM ,... I am planning to go for Pioneer 16X / 40x drive... I am in Europe .. I want to make my dvd rom regional free and further I am planning to watch the movies on my tv using tv-out option.... Is it easy to hack the regional code of pioneer dvd... how good the quality...please free to give some other options....

CD-RW...
Initially thought of going to plextor with it's burn proof technology... Later I came to know about AOpen CD-RW... it has a similar technology called Just link technology... but Aopen is cheaper than plextor (by U$ 80)... how about the quality of these two...

need some advise on urgent basis... I am planning to buy the system tomorrow....

Thanx in advance

you'll need to use a hacked firmware upgrade which is simple to do if you read the instructions carefully! try to get the pioneer 106/116s model as it's the latest & quieter than the earlier 105/115s model.

I would recommend the Lite-On 16x CDRW, quality is great and it has the lastest version of burnproof, also much cheaper than Plextor

I thought (correct me if I'm mistaken) that DVD drives were universal, and didn't have the regional block. I have a guy that sits beside me at work, and just came over from England (I live in Canada). He can play both NA and European DVDs in his laptop drive...

I thought it was just standalone DVD players that had the regional block (which is stupid anyhow)

i think dvd-roms is not universal..that's what shop keepers say...seems u can change it only 5 times...anyway they tell u that's easy 2 break...i am not sure whether i could break my pioneer dvd 16x... any help on this hacking..or should i choose some other make which is easy to break...

my second question...with regard to just link technology of AOpen CD-RW.. is that same as plextors burnproof?

guys please reply...i have to make a decision...
