DVD ROM W/ TV OUT!!!

Not really possible with out a lot of stuff onboard. Maybe he's thinking of a combo DVD drive with hardware decoder card(which no one should have in any modern PC.)

All the DVD probably has is CD digital audio out. You can't get stuff like DTS or DD from the digital out on the DVDROM.

The Creative Labs DXR-3 decoder card has a TV-out. It works great for me!

That's the card though.. not the drive.

In that case, you could easly get a DVD decoder board (Hollywood DVD reccomended, comes with remote control) or a video card with a TV out (ATI All In Wonder) if that is what you wanted to do.

The Creative DXR-3 DVD decoder card (does not come with remote :|) is in fact a rebadged Hollywood card. Ugh... and I thought I was getting something special.

Alright, what's the point of wasting money on a DVD decoder card? Even older CPUs have more than enough power for the job.

If you want TV out through a video card, your one and only option is ATI's Radeo - the undisputed leader in that category.

Never heard of a DVD drive with built-in TV out. DVD player, yes, but not a PC drive

dude, I have a 16x DVD Phillips drive, a Visiontek GeForce3, 1.4 athlon 512 MB RAM, and PowerDVD 4. When I use the TV-out on my geforce3, to play my simpsons season 1 dvd's , it doesn't playback very well....it kinda turns black and white, flashes, and kinda rolls on the screen, like, goes from top to bottom, like a reel of film does when it runs out. Is it not happy to tv-out with dvds without a hardware decoder card??? any thoughts on this one (posted in hardware too, just incase)

What kind of software are you using? Try TvTool. I have a nearly identical setup and it's PERFECT.

I think that is the Macrovision kicking in. Try searching around in the forums for a link to the program that disables Macrovision.
