This new application will allow you to Backup/copy your DVDs is less than an hour, read:

- World's fastest video compression engine. Process a movie to fit on 1 recordable in a matter of 15 to 30 minutes (depending on the speed of your computer).

It used to take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours of ripping, re-encoding, plus authoring and burning with the convetional system and depending on the speed of your computer or lenght of the movie, now it takes less than an hour for the whole process, you still have to rip and burn the DVD yourself but the main process takes now 15 to 30 minutes, the program is only 98Kb in size.

Hey is it alright watching movies burned on DVD-RW? I'm going to start downloading DVD movies but don't really want to burn all of them to DVD-R media since some of them I won't want to keep, I just wanna play them on my DVD player and then erase 'em. How has your guys' experience been with this?

Downloading dvd movies? I haven't seen any dvd quality movies available for downloading yet. I've downloaded a few movies to preview before watching them (or deciding not to watch them) in the theater, but the quality was never dvd quality. For all the aggravation it is to download and burn them... why not check out dvdtalk to see get the most for your money purchasing dvds. Besides... at $9something per dvd (to purchase), you wouldn't even break even (considering the cost of the dvd burner) until you downloaded and burned about 25 dvd's. That's an awful lot of time for inferior quality.
Then again.... I'm not an expert. But, the files I've downloaded have been 700MB for half of a movie. The quality was no where near dvd quality. (it was no where near VHS quality either!). I'm guessing 4GB per movie would be the approximate amount you'd have to download. That's the same as downloading 1000 4MB mp3's.
Personally, I'd say it wasn't worth it. Now.... getting a preferred super golden customer of the year card (or whatever it is) at blockbuster, renting, ripping, and burning... that may be worth your time. Either way, it's illegal.

As long as the movie you backup is less than 2hrs long the quality on this program is very good. You only get the movie and chapter points. No menu or extras. The speed of this method is unbelieveable. Well worth being called a hot deal IMHO.

But yeah shadow groups are slowly beginning to release more and more DVD-R screeners, and the quality is pretty close to DVD from what I've seen. However, the majority of movies that have just come out at the theatres are still being capped and encoded to either vcd or svcd to fit on CD-R media -- which isn't bad at all if you get the SVCD movies. I'm a little confused from reading their website... It says this doesn't decrypt. So it this simply a re-encoder?

I've worked with much of the other software before. What is the process here? Does this replace the re-encoding (i.e. rempeg2, etc.) or everything except burning.

Considering I have enough pc's to leave one running rempeg2, is this just $40 to save time? Or does this combine multiple pieces of the process?

I'm waiting for something in free domain that'll be as easy to use as DVDXCopy. Exact imaging is supposed to be just a single button click kinda thing (from what I hear) without having to use multiple programs, rippers, compressors, etc.

Just load it up and push da button!!

I have this program it is only 93KB. I did lotr extended version and I had 5 friends over I put the original in and the dvdr in nobody could tell the difference. I think this is a great program. It only took 31 minutes to do its magic.

It's not that hard to do the same thing with free softwares. You still need to use a ripper since it doesn't do any decrypting, and a burning program. You still need 3 softwares. Just head on to vcdhelp and doom9 and read the guides for a few minutes, you can do the same for free. This is just my $.02 if you're cheap like me, but if you have money to blow... by all means buy it, or go for the more expensive all-in-one dvdxcopy instead.

You're missing the point. If you have to take a 6-7 gig movie and reencode it, it's going to take a program like CCE (which costs $2000 btw) 6-10 hours to encode all that video. If you screw up the math, you're going to have a file that is too big to burn to a DVD by like 30megs. (It happens). This program does all of that in 20-25 minutes and always spits out a DVD that is 4.3 gigs. So it's always going to fit on one disc. 8 hours down to 20 minutes. That's incredible.

I'm not missing the point. But you do have a point regarding movies that won't fit in a single disc and it somehow makes it fit. This I want to know how much quality is being sacrificed though, can you tell the difference? I've always split my dvd's if it didn't fit... double-sided.

I think it says you need to decrypt/rip the dvd to your hd first. Use something like dvddecrypter or smart ripper.

Great program. Got it last weekend and have made backup's of all my kids movies. Takes no time at all, and the best part now, my kids can leave the originals in the cabinet. I just couldn't stand the idea of them taking the movies into the truck to watch on road trips. They were bound to ruin one! Now, who cares, burn another for $1!

I got the program about 2 days ago. Already made 8 backup copies of different DVD's. Quality is really good, but best on the shorter movies. I made them all with 6 channel audio too (tested audio, sounded great). The only DVD so far that looks a little worse than the original is Minority Report, but it was a huge rip too. (over 7 gig). All movies took less than 2 hours apiece from start to finish.
