yes it does....but remember you only need to use autoshrinkiso if you don't have a NTFS partition..or if you'd rather use CopyToDVD to burn.

thanks guys...do remember I'm not the author so don't thank me. I only write guides on how to use dvd backup software and mirror many of the programs. dvdshrink is the author of dvdshrink...I've never met him but my wife has and says he's a cool dude.

I wonder if they fixed the bug w/ the auto-eject. I have it disabled in Nero and thru WinXP but it still ejects after rip/burn.

Let's say you have a dvd to backup that needs no compression. Can you make an exact copy of it with one of several programs around or do you still need it deprytped to burn it and make it play on a standalone dvd player? Is this what the .iso reading and burning is about? I'd like to know the reason to read and burn .iso file with this new version. What can you do with this feature? It might be something i'd want to do! thanks, Robert

.iso output is a single self-contained image file versus the older methods of at least several vobs and other miscellaneous files that had to be burnt using nero's file browser interface.

bump for some easy .iso goodness.

If you have a DVD which needs no compression (DVD-5), you will still need to decrypt it. In this case you can still use DVDShrink or an easier method would be to use DVDDecrypter in "ISO Read" mode, then use it in "ISO Write" mode to burn. You can not just copy it with Nero, etc. Some people have reported problems with compatibility using Nero and other burning programs when making backups, and also by using ISO mode you can burn with DVDDecrypter and have a totally free backup solution with great compatability. Free is always nice!!

Thanks a lot, I love DVD Shrink. I just got v. 3.1.5 just a few days ago. I'll have to get the update.

mrbass--If it wasn't for you, your excellent threads over the past few weeks, and DVDShrink, I wouldn't have a clue on backing up my DVDs. Yes, I know you didn't write the program, but, you made it real for me. Thanks.

One thing that I have not been able to do with DVDShrink is to select which titlesets to keep & remove (re-author) and yet keep the menu. At least until v3.16, if I wanted to select titlesets, I'd have to re-author and lose the menu. Does 3.17 allow keeping the menu if I want to re-author? Until DVDShrink allows it DVDXCopy will remain on my machine.

@skifiend
keep dvdxcopy then or use Nero Recode 2 to keep menus while losing extras.

I'm kind of a newbie on this, so take this with a grain of salt. When you re-author there is no way to keep the menus. The menus will still work only when backed-up in full disk mode.

I believe that the menus would be pointing to the wrong places on the disk after you had re-authored. (Since you have compressed/omitted some chapters or extras) And the menus will still be pointing to the original disk locations for that data.

Does that make sense?

I've seen alot of guides explaining how to rip the main movie from a DVD, but how about one explaining how to rip one of several TV episodes from a DVD? For example I want to rip just the second episode off a DVD with just the English stereo sound track and then burn it onto a DVD in a way that would be playable on my DVD player.

@Mr. Bass: Thanks for the suggestion about Nero Recode 2 - I'll have to check it out. I do use DVDShrink when I can as I've had better results with it using deep analysis than with DVDXC.

@coons10: DVDXCopy Platinum does offer the ability to re-author and select specific titlesets to keep, along with the menu. So it has been done. I was just wishing for it on a program (DVDShrink) that does everything else so well. And, DVDShrink does while being so small - a nice piece of work.

What I have found works for me is that I have the DVD shrunk and then burn the output files to a DVD +RW at my friends (he only has a + drive and likes to keep the originals there, I have a dual format and lots of - disks to use up at home) and then bring the DVD +RW home and copy over all the files via explorer to a new VIDEO_TS folder and then burn those under Nero. No problems at all.

So once I use DVD shrink to produce the folders I can keep making copies this way.

I didn't think that I was going to use the burning function of DVDShrink, but I was wrong. It's great for those who are lazy like me and don't want to come back after its done transcoding to drop the files into Nero to burn.

DVDShrink rips DVDs just fine, no?

DVD Decrypter does a better ripping job -- that what I was told by someone here.
There was one situation, when I used Shrink/Nero to burn a movie, I saw some still/skip on the backup. Someone on this forum told me to use DVD Decrypter first to rip the DVD , then backup with Shrink/Nero to encode/burn. This way works me very well. So, I always use DVD Decrypter since then.
Again, I am a newbie here, correct me if I am wrong.

-- Make no mistake, DVD Shrink is a great program.

I'll be your huckleberry.

Thanks a lot.. I tried it last night using FILES not .ISO, and by extracting movie title only, and it worked just fine...
